I do not know why I am quoted as writing this post. I have not written any posts about contacting the NVC about an expedite request.

That would be great to know especially those whose Police check will expire  before their interview.  Would save money and the hassle of doing it again!

True!!! HAHA! As I was sharing to my wife experiences of our folks here who'd waited so long for their IL and got their PCC reached past 1 yr and had to get new one. My wife slightly shouted while we video chat, "what? :girlwerewolf2xn: another $65 for PCC?" And she worries more :protest:about the other PCC from her birth country which we paid almost $300 for the PCC + courier. So I told her that one is not required since she didn't went back there after acquiring the PCC.

Right?! It's crazy. It will be great for those who haven't yet done a second one, to not need it if they extend the validity of them by another year!

Hello everyone,

Base on this website: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Supplements/Supplements_by_Post/MTL-Montreal.html#pre_interview_checklist

If you previously submitted to NVC an I-864 affidavit of support (AOS):  Bring proof of your petitioner’s legal status in the United States (photocopy of a U.S. passport, birth certificate, naturalization certificate, or legal permanent resident card) and their federal U.S. tax return (Form 1040) from the previous year.

If you previously submitted to NVC an I-864 affidavit of support (AOS) completed by a joint sponsor (not the petitioner):  Bring proof of the joint sponsor’s legal status in the United States (photocopy of a U.S. passport, birth certificate, naturalization certificate, or legal permanent resident card) and their federal U.S. tax return (Form 1040) from the previous year. If the joint sponsor’s tax return includes a spouse, then the spouse must complete Form I-864A.

I just want to double check if I got everything right. Could you guys help me confirm few of my questions please?

1. For the interview, do I only need to bring the photocopy of the passport's biological page of the petitioner and the joint sponsor?

2. If my wife (petitioner) passport expired during the process, is it better to just photocopy both of the expired and unexpired passport's biological page?

3. It stated that we only need the photocopy of the birth certificate (long-form) of petitioner and joint sponsor. However, it is more safe to bring both original and photocopy of the birth certificate (original and notarized version)?

4. I assumed that IRS tax transcript instead of the tax return form 1040 and w2 would also work?

Thanks!

Just as another heads up, I've emailed the US Consulate Montreal whether they will be adapting their interview policy/quarantine restrictions in line with the Canadian Federal Government's announcement that they will be reducing quarantine for fully vaccinated Canadians and PRs in early July. I'll post here if I get any news on that.

Thanks for highlighting this discrepancy. I actually saw this yesterday myself and assumed, the new requirement was simply not updated.

I just sent emails to both NVC and Montreal flagging this, and asking what the validity of the police certificate is for a candidate interviewing at Montreal. I will update all should I get a response.

Please, please keep us updated regarding their responses... I paid $150 + tax to get my police clearance through the Commissionaires and it would be nice not to have to pay another $150... especially that I have not even been back in Canada since my most recent one 😒

I redid mine here in the US, and Commissionaires sent it to the RCMP on May 28. I have not received anything yet…Yup, it sucked having to redo it from the US, it’s so expensive (vs the first one that I did in Canada, which expired in February 😕)

I contacted the RCMP via email last week for a status update (since Commissionaires provided that info to me), and followed-up yesterday to ask if they had received my original email. Got a canned auto-reply response saying it’ll take 5 business days to respond.

I hope I don’t have a “glitch” as well…

lol great. yeah, the “glitch” 🤣. It appears that we should now renew the PC months in advance to be safe lol. Hence, it would be wonderful if they actually did extend it to 2 years but that would almost be too good to be true.

Quick question. Can I get my COVID shot 3 weeks in advance of my Medical ? Or is it risky?

Risky in what way? I got my second shot a week before and it wasn’t an issue on its own. Are you expecting to get additional vaccines at your medical?

No I'm not expecting additional vaccines, but what if I missed something ? Can they not update me and delay my case because I got my second shot 3 weeks earlier?

I’m in no way a medical authority on this, but most vaccines can either be given at the same time as others or require 14 days between them, excluding multiple doses of the same vaccine which have their own rules (e.g. covid vaccines)

You can compare your vaccination records to the table shared from CDC in this thread around  week ago. It’s quite straightforward and it was exactly one to one what the doctor reviewed at the medical.

@DGF thoughts on adding a link to the CDC’s table to the FAQ? Seems to come up a lot lately and it’s a fantastic resource.

I got my t-dap and mmr on the same day but was told I would have to wait 2 weeks to get the covid vaccine. So you should be fine
