Has anyone been required further attestation from your primary care doctor/specialist for the medical? I know they ask for your medications and health history and etc… but right now I take medication to manage mental health/depression etc… and ADHD I’m really scared of getting caught up in AP because the medical exam is asking further documentation.

if you don’t want to discuss it on a public forum, please feel free to DM me directly!

Further documentation has been asked for in the past. I think it probably depends on what your actual diagnosis is. If you see a psychologist get them to write you a letter. If past history was suicide or self harm (not saying this is your history) it is important to have them write that you are no longer a threat to yourself or others.  If you have just seen your family doctor a similar letter describing your mental health and ADHD and how you are not a threat to yourself or others.

Our lawyer suggested the same which means my wife is going to have to mail it via courier... another stressor added since sending important documents via courier makes me nervous. I THINK he also said the original Affidavit of support but I might have misunderstood, dont quote me on it I would have to double check.
He also said updated marital evidence etc which from what I am seeing, they dont ask for at the interview. I think lawyers put those on the list in case they do ask its better to have it than not have it.

Same here. The lawyer gave a list with two highlighted items. Birth certificate of petitioner and updated police certificate (which is a long story) but she is going to send BC today and I still haven’t received my police certificate due to a “glitch” from the police department they were taken at. Thankfully I did see they updated and it appears to be valid for 2 years now so I hope my last one will suffice. Also the lawyer said to bring 20 pages of pictures and travel itinerary's 🤷‍♂️
Went today and got the 2 passport pics and an expandable binder for all the documents oh and 250 sheets of printer paper lol

For whatever it’s worth, I did not need to show the petitioner’s birth certificate. You should bring it as it is listed in the documents you should bring on the website. Perhaps make a notarized copy before you send it off via mail.

Has anyone here ever been asked for it? I remember when I was researching the NVC step, I read something along the lines of how you only need to submit the petitioners birth certificate if they are your sibling/other relative, but not if you're married. On this website, it says "Your original birth certificate and that of your petitioner *if applicable*", so it makes me think the same applies to the interview. I'm not 100% sure though, I wonder if anyone has asked the consulate about this directly but definitely hearing from others about their experience would be great too.

I can only speak from my one experience but I think it's very plausible that at some point in the history of the Montreal consulate, someone may have been asked to procure their spouse's birth certificate.

My approach to the interview is that it took 15+ months to get to the interview, I was not going to leave anything to chance and have the process delayed any further. If they ask for any documents that is listed on their checklist (they will define what is applicable), I think it's fair game and if you don't have it, then they may ask you to submit it after your interview and result in further delays. At my interview, someone I talked to brought the wrong type of beneficiary birth certificate (short-form vs long-form) and his visa was not approved and he said he had to submit something later (I didn't get the whole story because I was finished and left).

I totally agree with your reasoning, what a bummer it would be to go through even more delays. Just wish it was more clear for those who live far away and have to mail an official document, I'm sure that must be very stressful.

I have a question. I submitted my birth ceritificate from my home country and I just realized that it was the ‘wrong one’. Meaning it is still mine but the government agency change their name. I checked the NVC document requirements, and my birth certificate is different. (Only the government’s agency name is different) But my status is still DQ. I already got a new copy of my birth certificate. Should I upload it? Or wait for my interview date to kinda update my new birth certificate? Thank you.

I believe it is advisable to upload it and bring the correct Birth Certificate as describe on Reciprocity and Civil Documents by Country.

Sad to know Travel restrictions at the Canada-U.S. border will remain in place for at least another month (July 21). Hoping they will give new guidelines that will take effect early July for Air Travellers who are Non-Canadian and Immediate relative of Canadian who are fully vaccinated that they will no longer need the mandatory 3 days hotel and 14 days quarantine and a Viral Antigen Test will be good enough rather PCR test. So that all folks here who were been separated with their spouses for long time will be reunited with them soon.

Yes, we will hear more on Monday - https://www.cicnews.com/2021/06/canada-border-restrictions-extended-to-july-21-public-safety-minister-0618403.html#gs.47mrnc

Personally, as a first step, I would be happy should they simply lift the mandatory hotel stay and limit the tests (even if PCR) to just 2 - one before arrival and one at the border, and lift quarantine upon negative report of the second test (which should be 3/4 days max). This to apply to both fully vaccinated returning Canadians and immediate non-Canadian family currently exempt from travel.

My husband is planning to visit on July 2, and we hope not having to quarantine for so long this time. Besides just wanting to enjoy the summer, it makes it difficult for me at work as I need to quarantine with him and thus need permission from my employer.

As for me, since last year when I visited my wife in August and December, I just make sure I quarantine on different room, kept distance and wear mask (no kiss, hug and so so. lol) as per the quarantine regulations for 14 days and as for my wife she was not required to quarantine and able to continue going to her work

Wow! That must be so hard ☹️

It really sucks, but necessary ofcourse when employers don’t allow their staff to quarantine or the person can’t perform the job from home.

I can perform most of my duties while working from home, but do need to perform one visit per week to my construction sites. I try to manage this through remote video, but still difficult to convince my employer sometimes.

I almost wish the govt would give compensation to Employers/ employees for period of quarantine. I believe Singapore was doing that. It lifts the burden off and allows people to be safe without having to be in difficult situations like yours.

I second that. I know it’s a lot of work getting all your documents ready, and it is a pain to request official documents, have them mailed to you in Canada, etc. but it’s also the homestretch!! I would really recommend having everything with you, and a photocopy. This is not the time to assume you won’t be asked for something or that getting a document isn’t worth the effort. It would be such a shame to be delayed because of it.

I had a huge binder with me of everything we submitted to NVC with photocopies (including US spouse birth certificate) + everything they asked for the interview with photocopies + any back up documents that might help (bank statements, plane tickets, literally anything). They only ended up asking for a fraction of what I brought, but I knew I had done everything I could to pass the interview. The interview usually goes smoothly but it’s still nerve wracking. It does make you feel a lot more confident knowing you have everything you could possibly need with you 😊

Hi all - I had a question. I live in Ontario and got a new Police Certificate back in March. I made a VERY silly mistake by opening the letter in too much excitement and ended up tearing the top part a bit, all the text is still intact but the top part of the letter teared up. So bummed out with my tiny mistake. I am scared they wont accept it as is? Should I get another one done? So confused
