Isnt it the doctor who does the medical exam will give the missing vaccinations?

When I was looking into this prospectively last year, I found that not all immigration medical doctors do the vaccines, some do (like the immigration doctor in Montreal) and others you have to bring the vaccine records to them and it depends on the age of the applicant what types of vaccines are required. Best to ask before making an appointment and know what vaccines you need. The doctor in Toronto, Dr Lyndon Mascarenhas, https://www.visadoctor.ca/en/us-medical has a great vaccine checklist form on their website by age group. With him from what I understand he does not do the vaccines but rather you take your records to your family doctor, if there are missing vaccines you can take them with your family doctor, and your family doctor completes the checklist form that you then bring to Doctor M. You can look at that form for reference even if you do not do your medical with them. If you have any questions the doctor’s office where you will be completing your medical will guide you. I found them to be very helpful.

Hello all,

Can someone give me clarification in regards to required vaccinations?

According to CDC and travel.state.gov, we need the following:

Screenshot_20210615-213425_Chrome.thumb.jpg.701f9e69dea15d3969c02797d757c40a.jpg

But then I am looking at the Doctors like Dr Zatzman and Mascarenhas requirements and they dont even include all of that. They mostly include: td/tdap, mmr, varicella, and flu shot.

I have documents proving the following:

- immunity/antibody testing for MMR, Varicella, Hep A and Hep B

- menjugate I believe back in 2010

- Quadracel given in 2010, and Adacel given 2020

- i can provide verbal proof too of having Had the chicken pox

- i get flu shot annually and I am a nurse so i have proof

-  i also have donne mg Tuberculosis skin testing

But now im worried because I dont seem to have - rotavirus, pneumococcal, and polio. But then again immigration doctors dont even have those under their requirements.

Can someone help because im stressing haha.

Thanks!

Melissa

Hi Melissa, just in a few posts previously a detailed source was shared to help you determine what you need. Specifically the CDC’s guidelines for physicians, has a PDF with an easy to asses table included. I trust you’ll find the info you need there. Biggest point of confusion is while the above is the list of all vaccines, some are/aren’t required depending on your age group.

I spoke to my gp who told me in Ontario u can contact public health and they will should have ur records on file. If not u can take the list that u need done and they can run blood work to check for anti body’s. Then what ever you are missing they and give u and just take that with me for the dr apt.

Have you or anyone you know crossed in to the U.S. via land border recently? Just curious if you are speaking from a personal experience. Thanks!

I crossed a land boarder into Buffalo 2.5 weeks ago to activate my visa. No test needed when I entered.

I am so confused. All this time I thought they assign interviews in sequence of DQ. Accordingly, you should have been interviewed in May, and they are asking you wait for (maybe) August?!

Maybe others more experienced can advise if this has happened before and whether you have a Solid case to ask for an expedite....I can’t imagine why you don’t...

Please update us when you hear from Montreal. I would also call NVC again tomorrow at 7am. Maybe another agent would have a different answer than just “wait and see”? Ask them how come you were skipped over and can you get an expedited interview considering you should have had one in May by your DQ date. Also wonder if you can ask to speak to a tier 2 agent and whether they would be able to help more....

@Amolak same for you...I don’t understands why you didn’t get an interview today for July...

To more experienced people on this thread - has this happened before?

Any update on your file

Is it normal when making a medical appointment that they ask for you to email them all the information that is asked to be brought to the appointment anyway? passport, vaccine checklist, etc. I find it kind of redundant if it has to be emailed as well as brought to the appointment. Not that its an issue, just seems a bit odd.

probably just their process, eliminating people not having the documents prior and filling the schedule with medical exams that are incomplete. Get used to it, to your interview your going to bring a bunch of documents you've submitted online lol.

Yes it was difficult for me. On job apps, you still need to say you are not authorized to work in the USA, since you wouldn't be authorized until you have the TN in hand, which you can't get until you have the offer. If you checked 'authorized to work in the USA' when you actually were not, most employers would view that as lying on the application, which probably wouldn't bode well! I was sought out for the job I have, so was able to have conversations about my plan to apply for a TN, and they were willing to take the risk that I wouldn't get it and they would have to go back to the drawing board with their recruitment.

Many job descriptions now say you have to have current work authorization because a lot of Canucks were applying with TN in mind.

Make sure you encrypt that data before you email it. That’s perfect identity theft waiting to happen.

Has anyone been asked for petitioners original birth certificate at the interview? Our lawyer sent a check list with a couple highlighted items that I don’t have and one is my wife’s original birth certificate. I find it odd that they would want to see that document as it’s all been uploaded for NVC and on ceac.
Also for the recent people going for their interview: don’t forget to register for your interview. It was nice to sign in to ceac and see my case at Montreal today!
