I'm firmly a believer that we will get IL's this week, but here's a glimmer of hope - might be able to visit with no quarantine if fully vaxxed while we wait!

The dream !

Hi State and Maine and chanel167,

Have either of you had any good news on the police certificate front? My wife got hers done at Commissionaires as well back at the end of April, and she still has not received the certificate in the mail. She did contact the RCMP and they said that it was mailed out mid-May, but she has yet to receive anything. Are you both in the same boat with it being a possible mail delay backlog rather than with the RCMP themselves?

Hi! I received mine on Friday, June 4th. It took exactly 10 business days to arrive. I'm sorry to hear that it's taking so long for your wife :( I hope hers comes in ASAP.

Yes! Yes! Yes!

Edit - Jumped the gun and got very excited reading the headline. 😅  But listening to Trudeau doesn't seem like anything is definite... Glad they are talking about it though. Good sign!

Agreed, this was pretty much in line what he's been saying the whole time. All he's confirmed is that international travel will return at some point...which could mean a month, a year or a decade from now.

Forgive me for being a pessimist but unless I see a reliable source from the government which sets out clear metrics or date when travel restrictions will be loosened, I'm not gonna hold my breath.

Lucky! I crossed 5/22 in the morning and my status still has not changed. It still says payment received. 🤷‍♀️

Hi - my spouse crossed the border on 4/30. Still no update for GC. Status is fees received. Where did you cross the border ?

Yes, that is good news. If NVC has issued letters for all K1 cases ready up to November 2020, then as per their statement in the video they should focus on interviewing DQ cases in immediate family category (which included IR1/CR1) uptil November 2020 soon too, since the aim is to keep the backlog proportionate in all categories in Tier 2.

Hopefully September and October DQs will get their interviews in July and November (and dare I say December) DQs will get their interviews in August.

Good luck to all!

I'm not sure what they meant when they said they want to keep the backlog proportionate. They admit that IR1/CR1 have proportionately higher numbers, yet they skip a month and a half of IR1/CR1 scheduling interviews.  Seems like a bunch of jibber jabber.

Just extremely frustrated by this whole process, as we all are.

Still haven’t received mine. Did the same and contacted the rcmp and they haven’t received them as of June 3rd. Called the police department where I got them done and they said there was a “glitch” and sent them again on June 4th. Hopefully I will have them in the next week or two.

Hi @Shumai84, that looks like good news to me! Based on the spreadsheet you were DQ'd Sept. 30 2020, is that right? It will be interesting to hear when you get your IL. Rooting for you! :)

I just want to clarify,  was this @Shumai84 that got this? Cause to me it looks like a screen shot of a K1 that was DQd in November 2020

I am trying to give them the benefit of doubt by seeing it this way - keeping the backlog proportionate for all categories in Tier2 is the overall plan and commitment. In the short term (one month or two perhaps) CR1/IR1 is suspended, because they pushed it aggressively last several months. Once the others are caught up, CR1/IR1 will resume... 1 month is too short a timeline to judge...

While I can imagine the frustration of those immediately next in line, I would really get angry with Montreal only if they don't schedule interviews in August for CR1/IR1, because then they really have no excuse, and were lying to us on the video.

No that's for K1. I'm just following K1's thread to see what's happening on their end.

I think the interpretation of From_CAN_2_US is probably right, the Montreal consulate is focusing on processing K1s so that the backlog level for both spousal and K1 would be the same because spousal and K1 are treated equal under the new tier system.

If that were the case, we would see more IR1/CR1 interviews go out. We stopped at Sept 5, and K1s are now scheduled up to December.  That puts them WAY ahead of us, and not the same

The didn't just catch up with K1s they surpassed us by 2 months DQs going by the date that was shared.
