Yes! That was exactly my thought process... I was looking at the spreadsheet and dont see many new users after December so I figured that not as many marriages and thus applications have been getting filed which should have given them some opportunity to catch up and therefore they should be up to speed by July/August with the IR1 and CR1 not sure about the K1 timeline. Yet, they keep highlighting everywhere that Montreal is experiencing substantial backlogs etc even today in response to my email so it just made me wonder where these substantial backlogs are coming from.

I definitely imagine the K visas are massively backed up. People are getting engaged all the time and I’ve definitely seen some people be shocked that they are being quoted 2 years for waiting. It’s wild! I think every category is really bad, but IR/CR shouldn’t be as bad…I mean unless @Riversong is right and they’re just NOT doing IR/CR now because it’s been ‘unfair’ to less essential visas?

They are likely referring to the backlogs in the other categories, K, Employment based, IR5 and Family Preference categories are majorly backed up, to the point that I think there are people with 2019 DQ's that are still waiting to be interviewed. I thought K visas were still being interviewed for alongside us. Apparently not?

The new policy seems to require that Montreal start interviewing other categories by the looks of it, but not 100% sure on that.

I imagine their logic must be, "oh there aren't that many more people waiting in IR/CR now, so we can ease up on doing those, and look at other categories"...this of course neglects the fact that we have already been waiting 9 months or so now.

I've gotta say it has been terribly frustrating for things to fall off a cliff when we are so close to being done. Augh...

Oh thank you, so that means I need to update only the Canadian Police Certificate, not others related to countries I lived in previously.

Question regarding this: So, I am a Canadian citizen and got my Canadian Police Certificate done last June so it is definitely going to expire before my interview. Now, I  havent been back to Canada all year but my attorney said I still new to renew it. To me that doesnt make much sense because how can I possibly have committed a crime if I havent stepped  foot in Canada since the last clearance. Just wondering what you guys thoughts are on this or if anyone was in a similar situation.

I’m in the same boat. Logically that makes sense, but the requirement is to have a valid certificate, no matter the circumstances to put everyone on the same footing. Unfortunate, but it’s bureaucracy.

I know. That is exactly my fear. That they received orders to put IR and CR aside for now and get to working on the other categories that had been neglected. I am back in the waiting game with you guys except mine is even more uncertain 😂 there is no spreadsheet to give me an idea of how long this will take but its okay. I am used to the wait and disappointment that it almost doesnt even phase me anymore. Also, luckily I have a patient and supportive wife who keeps me positive. I am not sure if the response is automated or not but notice how they keep highlighting the substantial backlogs.  I will paste the response below.

We accept your request to reschedule your immigrant visa appointment with the U.S. Consulate General in Montreal. While we aim to process such requests as soon as practicable, there are likely to be increased wait times for rescheduling due to the ongoing pandemic and substantial backlogs. Please be assured that your request to be re-scheduled has been noted, we will contact you as soon as we are able to do so.

What I know, since Canada is your Country of chargeability, You will still need to provide the valid Police Certificate and if you have lived in US or other country as current residence you have to provide Police Certificate too

According to the K1 spreadsheet they were doing interviews from March until now. I'm not sure if they just started doing the spreadsheet in March so didn't include previous months, or if that is when Montreal started back up with the K1s

Yeah my grandparents just told me ‘well you’ve had to readjust your expectations for this before, just do it again.’ And I’m like- I have renegotiated this so many times to adjust for COVID, I’m a patient and reasonable person, and I’m really trying not to lash out because i have been renegotiating for 2 years. I absolutely clap back now because I don’t have the emotional capacity to explain it anymore. You try losing your future with your partner day by day. Every day feels like time wasted.

Exactly! I am just grateful that once I get back home there will be no adjustment of status. I would still go the IR1/CR1 route if I had to do it all over again. But this separation from my spouse is the worst!!! And my puppers is with him now, so I don't have her with me to be my source of comfort. Sigh, guess it's now "Hoping for July interviews"

April Stats (CR-1/IR-1) are out.

Nov - 76

Dec - 162

Jan - 245

Feb - 258

Mar  - 316

April - 304

April number was pretty high. I don't see K1 visa listed there, so perhaps this means literally they started interviewing K1 visas in March?

https://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/Statistics/Immigrant-Statistics/MonthlyIVIssuances/APRIL 2021 - IV Issuances by Post and Visa Class.pdf

It doesn't seem fair if they suspended CR1/IR1 as we are still supposed to be the highest priority and should be interviewed along with K1.

@Flowergirl 737, interview report?

Hey, yeah...I just got back from Montreal. I will write a full more derailed review in the next few days. But I was not approved I need to apply for a waiver. That's going to take a while.
