The US consulate in Mexico was also quiet in May but seemed to have issued a bunch of ILs for spousal today and the VJ folks are saying they are picking up a pace. Some were even scheduled for late June interviews....

Come on Montreal, you'd better do the same!!! You can do it!

Ugh... please?

It would be amazing to get IL's tomorrow. And for late June interview would be even more amazing!!

Sorry, but just curious why you are considering doing this? Are you worried about provincial border closure not allowing you to get to Montreal in time for the interview?

I’ve been staying with family because I didn’t want to sign a one year lease when I thought my interview would be 1-3 month wait. Something really bad is happening here right now and I can’t take it, since I don’t have the support network that is usually my wife + close friends due to immigration and COVID. So it’s either be homeless until my interview or just get an Airbnb til the interview, and if I’m going to do that why not do it in Montreal 😂

Sorry you're going through that. I hope we get our letters soon so you can get back to your wife. Virtual hugs

This is amazing news!!! I’m taking this as a sign that things are heading in the right direction.

anyone hear anything on the UK? They were the other consulate that didn’t send IL’s last month right?

☹️ Sorry to hear. Hope it doesn’t come to that and you will get your IL by tomorrow or next week....

London seems to be still in the standstill. No ILs for July interviews were released yet.

The Montreal consulate just posted two videos on FB explaining the current state of affairs. The consular chief gave some explanation for the questions being asked, but the answers are still pretty general as expected.

They posted these videos in this timing and I'm not sure what this means. She says there are far more spousal visa applicants than K1 to review and they are guided by DoS to maintain the proportion of each category. Then they should be pushing to schedule more spousal interviews.

I'm struggling to understand what message they are trying to convey with these videos. Are they saying ILs are coming now or there will be a further delay?  This makes me anxious that they are posting videos of explanation instead of just issuing ILs.

Very hard to tell what it means for IL’s. There are 2 things mentioned that I noted in their communication

- They’ve reached august 2020 in DQ, while for us it’s no news due to the lifesaving spreadsheet it is an official communication from the consulate on DQ dates and it’s a step in the right direction for transparency. Think of all candidates not on VJ/FB with no insight into things

- they said they’ll open up more as restrictions ease but since they plan a few weeks in advance it might not be right away. I understood it as: Quebec will open up in July but we won’t up in July in anticipation for this change, only the followings months once restrictions are in place.

I’m gonna go now to pretend it’s all cool and enjoy my summer while anxiously check my email every day. :)

She talked about the capacity and workplace safety due to government guidelines in Quebec and the US but they processed wayyyy more applications in the beginning of the year when covid numbers were insane as compared to now when the states are fully reopening and Quebec is one of the best provinces in regards to the covid situation. To me it’s just a bunch of lip service to say that they are openly communicating with us.

What's interesting is that for IR/CR they mentioned DQ dates from July-August are being interviewed this month.

I think this means they might be interviewing some of the rescheduled appointments for applicants previously unable to make it to their interviews (which tbh is the consulate's own doing because they provide such little notice).

But yeah, I have no idea whether that means we can expect more ILs for July. Honestly I've personally given up now, I'm banking on the border reopening sooner at this point...
