If you go back and read messages in this thread and the previous discussion thread you can get more detailed information about the challenges in getting answers from NVC or consulate. Short answer: yes multiple people reached out, NVC doesn’t provide a reason, they just say they book appointments when the consulate opens up slots.

Thanks for the response. I did read through the 24 pages of responses. I’ve had the same experience when reaching out to NVC. Yet again, really sad for all of us when there is simply no intention from them to give us an update. There is no way NVC would not know why they didn’t mysteriously have to book appointments for June. I am hoping we all hear something soon in June, like why do we even have to wait until the middle of the month to get our ILs, right? 😕

Honestly? I don’t think NVC knows or mind what’s going on at consulates. With over 160 missions and 480K visas ready for interview and backlogged for various reasons, the consulates are not a subordinate of NVC for them to manage the given reasons within a given timeframe for why things are moving or not. It’s not nefarious on NVC side it’s just a giant organization that has done their job once you’ve been documentarily qualified. Asking NVC for clarity will only work if an NVC rep goes out of their way to help a specific person to get answers, the likelihood of that have been very low so far.

Hopeful we’ll get IL’s in June. This is as much communication I anticipate we’ll get.

Agree, I suspect USCIS & NVC report to Immigration and Consulates reports to Foreign Affairs. If Montreal has no direct reporting line to NVC, the latter would not even know Montreal hasn't sent any IL in May, until the NVC checks it's data, only weeks later.

Montreal must have a reason for not sending letters, the most probable being a resource constraint (paid time off, sick leave, etc...) ... And unfortunately for us, Montreal has probably no obligations to send letters nor to explain anything.

I'm DQ Sep 21, I was so sure I'll get an interview in June... I was so naive 😅 ... But hey, at least, there are articles about removing the quarantine rule for fully vaccinated individuals, that will allow us to visit our significant others.

Unfortunately I’ve seen dq dates in from October 2020 that were interview approved in May in the k1 category. Knowing they have interviews booked for them in June and July means they’ll be ahead of us by a ways…

I would not count on anything before mid June for IL. And advise anyone with recent DQ that has the option to transfer to another country to go ahead asap.

Some countries have not opened up their consulates back for interviewing and some (but not named) were mentioned on the recent Q&A on YouTube as pausing accepting new interviews from NVC to deal with existing backlog.
I trust you’re speaking genuinely from the heart and feel extremely frustrated with the process and you could definitely be right, but unless you have data/evidence to support it, saying people should transfer to another country asap is not advice, it’s fear mongering.

I stand corrected. If you can transfer to another country that is processing IV quicker go for it.

Wouldn’t it be great if that data was public so we could make that decision? *laugh that turns into crying*

I think  @Mikeeastern makes a very good point.

Yes, the data may not be officially available to the public, but an individual would normally be eligible for only one or two additional countries (if any) for interview scheduling. And thankfully a search among the recent timelines here on VJ would give people a pretty good idea of whether that particular embassy is processing faster.

I did this search myself a couple of days ago (unfortunately it wasn't favourable for me as my other options were just as backlogged), and I recommend anyone DQ'd recently to check as well...

If you have a chance to escape Montreal for a better embassy such as Singapore for instance, go fir it!

Forgive my ignorance but can you explain how someone would be eligible for interviewing at another countries embassy? Do you mean if someone is a dual citizen or something? Thanks in advance

NVC by default assigns the interview at your country of residence. If you hold a citizenship or a residency in a country different from your country of residence, you are eligible for an interview in an embassy there. As I understand it you need to request from NVC for your case to be moved to the other embassy, and provide reasons. They may or may not approve it.

Some of us here are Permanent Residents in Canada or here on a work/ student visa (not Canadian citizens) but assigned to Montreal embassy because we reside here. We hold citizenships and/or permanent residencies in other countries and are eligible to move our cases there. Others here who are Canadians may hold dual citizenship with other countries as you mentioned or hold residency in other countries...

Ah okay that makes sense! Thanks for the explanation

I'm not sure transferring to another consulate/embassy is that simple. I thought about transferring to my original home country as it appears they have much less applicants there, but I decided to stick with Montreal. I'm DQ Sep 30 2020 so I could be in the next batch and thought it's unwise to add another layer of complexity.

Besides, I would need to obtain a new police report in my home country as it had already expired, and I will have to fly internationally for an interview while I'm not even sure of what the quarantine requirements are, plus I'm still working in Canada... so I just figured a transfer is not a practical solution.

I'm just praying that Montreal will schedule interviews for late June and July soon and I will be in that batch... 😫

Yes, all you mentioned needs to be taken into account. The transfer process could take a month or two. So it only makes sense if you recently DQ'd.

I would be very surprised if you didn't get your interview at Montreal by July.
