I thought Mr. Vermillion just did his job yesterday and I expected that there is little he can speak about regarding specific situations of different consulates. His response about DV2020 not getting interviews was bad news for those who are affected, but at least they no longer have to worry about it, so I thought some of his responses must have been helpful for some.

In our case, it's really the Montreal Consulate which can provide ANY information regarding the June and July interviews.

We are not asking for information on specific cases, we are just looking for general information about what to expect for the next few months so that we won't be trapped in this emotional torment.

Hi everyone,

So there's been a bit of buzz around the possibility that the US may unilaterally open their side of the border to Canadians. It was originally reported by the All Point Bulletin https://www.allpointbulletin.com/stories/us-border-to-re-open-june-22,16610

Global News also reported this too, but shortly yanked the story without any explanation and it's effectively been retconned on their news site. I have no idea what was going on there...but it looks like there may be some movement on the land borders soon.

This is all unconfirmed sources, so take it with a pinch of salt.

Yeah I think there will be movement soon. Air canada said they will start direct USA flights a few weeks ago. They wouldn’t start those unless they expect the cash flow from them.

The border by air has always been open from what I know. It's only the land border that was closed.

That is true air is still open but very limited. You can only land in a few major airports. Eg to get from Toronto to Pittsburgh u have to take a connection flight when before covid they had direct flights. Air canada has said they are starting up the direct flights again.

I truly cannot articulate how desperately I hope this is true. I haven't seen my wife in a year and a half. :(

I'm so sorry that you have been separated from her for so long, this situation is cruel, there aren't any other words for it. I really hope that it'll reopen soon and you can be reunited with your wife.

Hey all, just a quick update
CR1 interview was May 12th. Got my passport back May 17th. I crossed at the ambassador bridge May 22nd to activate my visa. I imported my truck and had a small uhaul. Was through in about 1/2h with no issues. Super easy process.
Good luck to everyone still waiting for interview letters. The wait is most definitely worth it! Keep pushing through.

Congrats! So happy for you

Has anyone in the group reached out to NVC about why the Montreal embassy didn’t  schedule CR1/IR1 interview for June? Like many of you, it is really disappointing that embassies have no communication with applicants. Who even keeps them accountable?

If you go back and read messages in this thread and the previous discussion thread you can get more detailed information about the challenges in getting answers from NVC or consulate. Short answer: yes multiple people reached out, NVC doesn’t provide a reason, they just say they book appointments when the consulate opens up slots.
