well... the answers during the session basically just reiterated the info on the website and didn't really address our concerns, as expected.

it's still a mystery why Montreal consulate interviews K1 but not CR1/IR1 in June.

hopefully they answer the questions in the comment section.

So who do we report that Montreal isn’t following the guidelines ??

I feel you, but I am also wondering if it is clear Montreal isn't following guidelines because CR1/IR1 and K1 are within the same tier. I mean if Montreal issued employment category or family preference category interview letters without issuing CR1/IR1 interviews, then it is clearly not following guidelines, but the way I read it CR1/IR1 and K1 are equal priority.

@aurmorr

"It seems that May 2021 had quite a few consulates and embassies around the world where this priority category was not addressed, while Tier 3 and Tier 4 priority did receive interviews. We would understand if Tier 1 only got addressed, but to see other Tiers get addressed and to see IR-1/CR-1 stop moving is heartbreaking. Many of us did not expect 10+ months of waiting for an interview when the process began and our lives and futures are completely on hold"

Do we know that Tier 3 and Tier 4 categories received interviews for the month of June for Montreal Consulate? I thought it was only K1 which is Tier 2 (Same as CR1/IR1).

Does anyone have experience with what to expect from the courier process? I realize it's only been a couple days and Monday was a Canadian holiday.

Lots of people do, and it's also briefly addressed in the FAQ linked in my signature line.

Congratulations on your approval! As mentioned in the FAQ, if you paid for delivery then it will be via Purolator, otherwise it'll be to the Canada Post outlet you selected. The best predictor of how it'll go is your own previous experience with Purolator/Canada Post since they can vary quite a bit depending on who the driver is, what route you live on, or the Canada Post location you chose (for example, Purolator always delivered late to my address, and sure enough my visa wan't delivered until 6:30 pm).

I am not a lawyer and nothing I say is or should be taken as legal advice.

Thanks so much! Super helpful.

My status is:
ISSUED (with a note saying “Your visa case is currently undergoing necessary administrative processing. This processing can take several weeks. As the officer told you in the interview, if further information is needed, you will be contacted. If your visa application is approved when administrative processing is finished, you will receive notification to collect the passport with the visa from the Loomis branch you selected when you booked your appointment. For more information, please visit TRAVEL.STATE.GOV.”)

Does that mean we're in Administrative Processing? Kind of confusing that ISSUED can have 2 different blurbs beneath it. They didn't ask for any additional information so hopefully it's not too long.

Even if they are not following the guidelines, there is no clear evidence of that and I'm not sure there is any kind of accountability to it anyway.

Long time lurker, first time poster..

Filed in early July 2019.

We were DQd (NVC) on June 3 2020.

Received an interview letter on February 4 2021

Initial Interview was scheduled on March 1 2021 (We could not attend this and had to cancel)

They emailed us on April 1 that we were rescheduled on May 21 for an interview.

Anyway.. had our interview on Friday! Everything went well - he was approved on the spot. I watched and read a lot of reviews about what to expect. My husband was let in 10 mins early, there was no line at all. He said he was 1 of 2 people in there and it was over less than an hour later. Meaning he was back at our hotel in less than an hour so that included the walk back as well. Super quick and painless. Shockingly after months of anxiety.

I drove back to the US after the interview on Friday and he is in western Canada waiting for his passport before he will fly back to the US.

(yes we had to quarantine ahead of the doctors appointment because we were in the US and it was painful $$)

Does anyone have experience with what to expect from the courier process? I realize it's only been a couple days and Monday was a Canadian holiday.

For everyone else -- hang in there. Your day will come I promise!

Congrats!
