Hi my name is Abhi

my wife is us citizen and I am in Canada on work permit

I have applied f2a visa and it shows actively reviewed since Jan 13 2021 ? When will I get approve? And how many months will take to approve whole process?
thankyou

If your wife is a USC then your category is not F2a. It is IR1/CR1. F2a category is for Immigrant petitioning spouse/unmarried child under 21.

When will your I-130 gets approve in USCIS?- it depends on which Service Center were your application was sent. Check your I-797 Notice of Receipt which Service Center will process your application.

The whole process varies. As to date base to the statistic on the spreadsheet of VJ'ers who got DQ'd by NVC in Sept'20 and still have not yet receive their IL. You may check other's timeline and you will figure out how long they've been waiting in line.

Please fill up your time line and for your advance reading, read FAQ under the signature of @Hawk Riders

Hello,

I was wondering how long it takes NVC to review documents submitted?

It varies from a couple of weeks to a couple of months.

NVC updates this page every Monday to show the cases they are currently processing by dates of their submission:

https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/nvc-timeframes.html

This will give you a good idea of where they are at and you can track their progress.

Hi there!

review times are posted on the website here:

https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/nvc-timeframes.html

also just to let you know, you’re in a thread for the Montreal Consulte in Canada specifically. Your profile says you’re in Nigeria, so we may not be able to offer much insight into anything outside of NVC

edit: lol sorry I didn’t see @From_CAN_2_US answered this already I just woke up 😂

I am in the US on a TN. I received my TN after applying for IR1/CR1. So I received my TN with a pending I-130, despite that the TN is not a dual intent visa. However, weirdly, a pending I-130 does not impute immigration intent if you apply for your IR1/CR1 through consular processing rather than AOS. This is because for consular processing you are required to leave the US (for the interview and to receive the immigrant visa at the consulate). For this reason, you will not be able to receive an immigrant visa directly from a TN without leaving the country. Going from TN directly to AOS is much more complicated due to dual intent, but is also possible. @Tofu it is unfortunate your lawyer gave you incorrect information on this. It's always best to talk to a lawyer with expertise in TNs. Happy to answer further questions about this @Dania A

Thanks @HD_BIRDS ... Little late for me now, but this would have been super helpful a few months back! Our attorney has let us down multiple times so this really comes as no surprise that we were given false info!

Hey - Can you please fill out your VJ profile and follow the instructions in my signature to have Hawk Riders add you to the tracking sheets?

Hi - same thing, could you please fill out your timeline?

You and your daughter's interview will be scheduled together.  If you have a RFQ, you won't be considered for an interview until you're DQ'd.  The fact that your daughter iis already DQ'd doesn't mean you'll jump the line...she'll be held up to match your DQ date and issued an interview based on your place after DQ.

Thank you for your response. Timeline updated.

Alright everyone, here is a list of questions that I want to ask during the session that address most of the concerns I've seen on this thread. Does anyone have anything that they want to add? I am just trying to use this very limited opportunity to try and isolate what we might actually be able to get answered

Wow, these are all great!! I'm wondering if you should ask questions related to Montreal first, just in case? I feel like they might avoid it, and if so, you can send it again later on?

Thank you so much for taking the time and putting this together!

I think you have covered everything. Just one question which could be considered:

Strategy for reducing backlog of CR1/IR1 category in Montreal consulate:

According to DoS's announcement on April 30, 2021"This prioritization plan instructs posts to maximize their limited resources to accommodate as many immediate relative and fiancé(e) cases as possible with a goal of, at a minimum, preventing the backlog from growing in these categories and hopefully reducing it."

Contrary to this objective, the Montreal Consulate has not scheduled any interviews for CR1/IR1 category in the month of June, which inevitably is causing the backlog to grow. What is Montreal's strategy to catch up with the backlog?

It doesn't hurt to ask, but probably his response would be "I won't be able to speak about specific consulates' situations."

We've been trying to contact NVC and Montreal consulate, but they either don't respond at all or give a dead-end answer like "your question is outside my scope."

I'm hoping that he could at least shed some light on what's causing some consulates, particularly those with lots of applicants like Montreal and London, to suspend issuing ILs for CR1/IR1 in June although K1 are getting.

Maybe procedural change or some directives on resource reallocation might have caused it. If he can give us some idea of whether/when those consulates are still interviewing CR1/IR1 in June or July, it would be fantastic.

Hey so just a heads up that this Q&A is for applicants all over the world and the host likely cannot speak to any one particular embassy or consulate function. It's also being hosted by a "US Visa's Expert", not someone who they have said works specifically for DoS or who has insight into any one particular country status. I wouldn't expect a firm comment on any embassy or consulate from this Q&A. I figure if we can get some insight into processes and accountability, we may be able to hold Montreal accountable to them or learn something that will help us moving forward. That's if any of these questions even get answered...

Yeah my only theory rn is that K and CR/IR-1 are managed by competely different sections of the consulate since K-1 applicants have interviews registered until the end of July. It really was just our department that said 'lol frick these guys'. I could ask for more information on that.

Also if anyone wants to join the little FB chat I have going, DM me here and I'll add you to it
