Sorry that was my mistake- I thought patriots day/memorial day were the same thing. They are not. Patriots Day is QC and Memorial Day (US) are different, and normally Memorial Day falls on the Victoria/Patriots Day weekend, but it's on the 31st.

Lol...no it’s just Quebec not wanting to celebrate the English Queen 🙄 I’m half French Canadian and half anglophone so I see how both sides see these cultural things differently.

So we have a day to commemorate the “patriots”. It’s also called fête du Dollard.

But you’re right, Memorial Day is usually the same weekend. Unfortunate how it falls next week this year.

Hi everyone, so my spouse came to visit me for 5 months in 2020, left early 2021, while we await our interview. I was wondering if it was possible for them to fly out here again to spend some time with me while we await our IL? Or is that not allowed since it hits close to the 6 month mark for visit limits?

Also, can they skip the hotel quarantine  if they drive through the borders?

Visiting is technically allowed, the 6 month limit on visiting isn't a rolling period. But CBP can and has denied entry if they think they're at risk of not returning. Trying to enter the US by land will be nearly impossible as there's a fairly strict non-essential travel ban through the land border.

Actually, Memorial Day is always the following weekend after Victoria Day.

I find they usually overlap since Victoria/Patriots day usually gets pushed but I looked it up and it looks like it’s 50/50 😂 but I know last year or two it was the same weekend and my wife had it off from work so I assumed they would take off Memorial Day as well.

From the reference to the mandatory hotel quarantine, looks like OP’s question is about their USC/ LPR spouse visiting OP in Canada.

@Slytherin Entry into Canada is at CBSA’s discretion. It would depend on how much time OP’s spouse spent in Canada other than the 5 months in 2020 last year, how much time they declare they will spend in Canada this visit, how they can demonstrate their intent to return to US and show ties there such as a job, lease agreement etc.

Driving into Canada as a spouse of a Canadian or Canadian PR should not be a problem. OP’s spouse must carry marriage certificate and copy of OP’s Canadian passport/ PR card. They will not need to quarantine in a hotel but only in the OP’s residence. OP will have to quarantine with their spouse. OP will need to show a negative COVID test taken within 72 hours of arrival at the border + do a test at the border + do a test on the 10th day of quarantine. Returning to thé US by land should not be a problem for OP’s spouse as a USC/ LPR.

We havé this process down pat as my USC husband visits me here in Toronto every 3 months for 4 weeks and drives across the border. So far, it’s been smooth sailing.

So my biggest fear happened tonight when my husband was on his way to work. Some jerk hit him while he was on his bike. The driver of the car just kept going like my husband was a piece of trash, not worth stopping for. My husband is a bit banged up, but no broken bones, thank god!!! But he will not be able to do much for a few weeks, and I am stuck here in Canada unable to be there to care for him. I think our bike is a complete write off, but I am just thankful my husband is still alive.

I’d be rushing around like a mad woman getting on the next possible flight.  Hope he is doing well let him now we are all thinking about him and a speedy recovery!

Thank you! Hubbins and I had a long talk after he got discharged, he is very stubborn! Our landlady is going to come over twice a day to help walk our dog and make sure he is okay. We have a great little community in the complex where we live. I know there are a few people who are willing to help out as well. Our landlady is going to keep me updated and let me know if she thinks I need to come down or not. Financially, right now, it's not do-able.

In the case of a medical emergency like this I feel the covid hotel should be waved. And they can sign off at the hospital if any life saving measures can be done.

Hi there, I hope someone can answer my question because NVC is helpless. My daughter who is 5 years old was DQed by NVC in May 2020. My process took longer with USCIS and I'm not yet DQed as they asked for additional documents.  Now, for interview at consulate do I have to wait another year or does my daughter's waiting count for me too?

I’m not confident in my answer, but after watching lots of others with kids all I know is that they do usually sync up the appointments/interview to be booked together. I’m not sure if that means she takes your DQ or you take hers though- but I would expect she takes yours.

Yes, when I was in the process, my daughters was DQ before me. When we first got our interview dates they were on separate dates but within a week of each other but then they got cancelled when Covid stuck. They ended up rescheduling us both at the same time and day.

Im sure they will schedule for around the same time. If you end up getting separate dates I’d suggest emailing them and requesting an interview together.
