Thank you so much! And you remembered correctly.  I already had two roundtrips booked for the rest of the 2021 year to be with her but turning one of those into a one-way ticket will feel amazing.

Thank you again! We will update everyone and timeline when we get IL.

- Mel

You will prob get a Dq in the next batch or a random email saying you got 2 weeks. Make sure to have everything needed for your doctors apt . I’m so glad they were able to do the request! Keep us posted !

Has any one taken a flight out of Yyz in the past week or two know how fast you get threw security. Online it’s saying be there 3 hrs early last time I flew it said the same and there was 0 wait. I have to take my emergency flight out on Monday :s

I’ve been there on August 3rd. And on that checking bags was the biggest issue. Unless you’ve a checking bag I guess an hour or less should be fine. The security was just a straight line with no issues.

I was there Aug 9th, the same day the border opened for Americans. It was horrible 😂. I was flying domestic and security took exactly 75 minutes. I could see the international security check line and it was equally as long, may have been longer cause the line loops behind a wall. Maybe things have gotten better, but I would listen to the website. When was the last time you flew? If it was before Aug 9, if makes sense why there was no wait. Things really did get bad as soon as the border opened

Will do! Does anyone know if I can go get my medical done in Toronto before receiving my IL? If so what would I give them because usually they want your IL.

I am just worried if they give me like 2 weeks notice haha.

Thanks!

From my understanding you need your IL to book an appointment but i understand your worry. I received my IL in the last batch and I knew I wouldn’t have much notice considering I was directly next in line (dq oct 6). I received my IL on aug 11 and was able to get an appointment for my medical on Aug 25 in Vancouver. I just received the notice that the results have been sent to the consulate which is plenty on time before my interview on sept 3. So although I understand your worry, the medical offices require an IL so that they can make sure those with little notice get in on time so you should be okay!

Hi all - quick update on green card timeline for CR1.

I crossed border on April 30th 2021. I just received my green card today - 119 days. I had received my SSN within 10 days of crossing the border.

Anybody who already crossed have timelines for how quickly your greencard got sent to you? I’m on day 84 since I entered the USA and still no update on my card production.

I crossed May 4th and just got notice that they mailed it on Thursday.

I contacted Dr Mascarenhas and they did say they need an IL, however they claimed they will accomodate me even on short notice which is awesome.

Does the IL get sent to our emails or in physical mail?

No problem! They get sent out as an email. Usually they are sent out in the second week of the month, but really it could be anytime.

GREAT NEWS!

As I am leaving the airport to return to Canada after visiting my wife for a month (hardest goodbye ever -they never get easier) - we get an email saying our expedite request was approved (DQd April 30th 2021) and is in transit to the embassy. I just called my wife and we are just ecstatic. We got notice last week it was under review.

Now I am on my way back to Canada and time to prepare for the last stage.

We do have a question, because the email from NVC says "The Embassy/Consulate General will contact you soon to schedule a visa interview"   but then when we go onto CEAC to check status it says "Your case is in transit to the Consular Section. Your interview date was provided to you by the National Visa Center".

Am I supposed to wait for them to contact me for the interview date or is there somewhere I should be looking?

Thanks to all and best of luck to everyone!

Mel

Congrats Mel!, on the expedited approval, would you mind sharing how long it took for NVC/ consulate to respond to the expedite request?. Also did you apply for the expedite with the NVC or directly with the consulate?.

Thank you! We sent the request on June 29 and on Aug 19 we received an email saying our request was under review. Then Aug 27 we got the email saying it was approved, so it only took 6 business days for them to make a decision. We applied with NVC, sent an email detailing our situation with letters from my doctors to NVCExpedite@state.gov.

Thanks for the details!, wow, close to 2 months just to get the case reviewed! guess it's all very delayed now.

Considering COVID 19 vaccine has been added to the list of vaccinations for US immigration, I am wondering if the US will accept my cocktail of Pfizer and moderna that Canada gave me and many others.

Reading the official requirements (see below) I didn’t find anything to address this.

Anyone here have any info?
