Got my passport back and was actually ready exactly one week after the interview.

Will cross the border at the airport in Montreal on September 24th. Do I have to go somewhere in particular to "cross the border" or do I go as usual through customs and that's it ? (Not used to airports at all...) Thanks

Congrats!

You can just go to customs as usual (int'l flights have the extra checkpoint after security). Leave extra time before your flight as you'll be sent to secondary so they can process your visa.

Regular customs. Let them know that you're activating a visa so that they know they'll need to process you differently. When I did mine they took my fingerprints at the regular customs booth and then the guy took me into secondary for them to activate my visa. That took about 20-30 minutes (this was in the height of covid though, I'd leave more time now) and then they walked me out of secondary and I went to my gate.

For those of you who recently crossed

border do you need to show any paper work other than passport and visa ? We never got our police clearance certificates back in the mail which we submitted during interview. Are these needed

This was answered on the previous page. Also, police certificates are not needed beyond the interview.

I know I haven’t been super active but I didn’t see anyone mention this recently- but the Medisys/Telus Health building is surrounded by nearly impenetrable construction. I could not access it from Maisonneuve Ouest or Robert-Bourassa Blvd.

i ended up walking around two or three blocks looking for a way in, but there is a small walk way at Maisonneuve Ouest and Union. If you’re walking, you have to walk around all the construction to get to it. If you’re driving, get dropped off at this pin drop I did in Google.

That construction is STILL going on?  It was going on when I was there in March 2020!  The lovely people at the front desk at the Renaissance Hotel joked that Montreal's official colour should be construction cone orange because the city is ALWAYS under construction!

Oh my gosh right? Every time I come here it’s a nightmare for walkways. Last time I was here was October 2019? It just got worse. I added it to the medical info on the consulate page because yeah- if I weren’t an anxiety ridden raccoon who leaves double time for everything, I would’ve been late.

Passport is out for delivery again today (wasn't delivered yesterday according to Purolator because of a "sorting error", ie the delivery driver didn't want to drive out to our place at the end of his shift so he pretended he didn't see the package in his truck).

That's standard for purolator, 5 times out of 10, for deliveries...🙄

We have a u-haul truck booked and plan to move on Thursday.

I imported my vehicle into the US on my way to work this morning since I'll be driving the u-haul on moving day. I had all the paperwork (HS-7, EPA 3520, compliance letter, bill of sale, and vehicle registration) all filled out and in order, so I was in and out of secondary in 5 minutes.

Please do a review on ur crossing with the uhaul

Have you guys gone to USA while you're i130etc is pending? Were at NVC stage but I just came across a great opportunity to visit my husband for a week.... Am I going to have issues at the border?

You can still cross. The only thing is make sure you have strong ties to Canada in case they ask u about it eg home job ect

I'll have a contract from this new job (I am taking a week off between current job and new upcoming job), can get an updated copy of a letter from my landlord, utility bills maybe? anything else you can think of?
