I wish I could visit my husband but I have nothing tying me back to Canada so they won’t let me in. I’m just hoping to get an interview by December at this point...I’ve spent 3.5 weeks with him in the last year. Looks like it will be another 6 months before he can come back so here’s to another summer alone with my 3 year old 😞

It's just sad this separation has taken a toll on all of us. They need to buckle down and not skip the IR1/CR1 class

I wish I could afford the $2k hotel stay upon return to Canada. I would be on the next flight out to Vegas to visit my husband. This separation is brutal, mentally and physically.

I'll probably kick myself next month for not going to visit, I have this horrible feeling that July will be no better than June

This $2K Hotel quarantine requirement is really a financial torture. I see it as a punishment for Citizens or immigrants or immediate relatives of a Canadian or immigrants who are entering to Canada. With just only the 2 weeks quarantine requirements before, I'm ok in dealing with it. But with the new regulations, I told my wife when I go back to US, I will not be able to come back to visit her not until the lifted the hotel quarantine or next year when she will have her interview.

I flew down for 3 days just before the hotel stuff came into place. So glad I did bc if I didn’t it would be 2 years with out seeing him. Keep in mind he did say he would buy me all the baby yoda stuff and McDonald’s I could eat if I would fly down there.... he had no idea I was walking into a flight as he was texting that lol

Baby Yoda ❤️ not sure I could pass up that extra temptation! 🤣

Isn't this literally the point of USCIS and NVC? They accept and review all the documents, do the checks, etc… and it’s literally just the duty of the consular office to confirm those pieces of identification are real, authentic, and match.

My understanding is that USCIS confirm the validity of the relationship and that it qualifies for immigration and approve a petition which is the *basis* for an immigrant visa, nothing more. NVC confirm that the documents required for interview are acceptable to the Consulate to prevent the issue of people turning up with the wrong documents or not being ready for the interview or to prevent potential gotchas ahead of time.. I imagine they confirm that the documents are genuine too.

The ultimate decision and judgement is made by the CO and the Foreign Post. NVC and USCIS may pass their thoughts onto the foriegn post, but it is the foreign post who ultimately make the decision. They therefore would need to do the checks prior to, at and after the interview so they can make their judgement according to law.

But honestly, without a fly on the wall to actually figure out what is going on, this is all guesswork on everyone's part.

When first looking at the old thread and this new one, I thought there was some good news considering the amount of new posts ! It's a good thing I stayed away for a bit, a lot of complaints / negative attitude around here...Well, the next batch is not that far guys 😃

Also we don’t even know the next batch isn’t that far. They seem not to be doing our interviews in June, so who says they also won’t in July or august? This uncertainty is killing some of us. One user mentioned potentially losing their kids scholarships because of this delay. Please be more considerate with your words.

I applied for my I-130 in Nov 2019 at Texas. It was then transferred to Potomac and finally approved in Feb 2021. I don't know if anyone out there has had such a long delay. I feel I was just unlucky.

But when I got it approved, we both got really excited that by this summer end it will all be done.

Then one of my PCC took almost 2 months to arrive and finally submitted everything on Monday at NVC.

And here I am climbing down from one steep mountain only to look at another one. Never thought the interviews can have such a crazy backlog.

If it's any reassurance, there isn't prior evidence to suggest that they will completely kill off doing any spousals in July as well. I think we had one month late last year where they didn't do any spousals, but it was only a month.

But yes, let's keep the pressure on the consulate so that processing our cases is at the forefront of their minds. :)

Let's consider what would be in our favor. Montreal's Covid restrictions are loosening up big time which will help to increase capacity, MTL will have had more time to hire additional CO's which might also increase processing capacity. DoS isn't stupid and they must recognize the massive IV backlog, if the new administration isn't looking to hire additional CO's I would be utterly stunned.

Yes I also am very optimistic that they will speed up the process after more people get vaccinated and things began to open up.

I found this. Could it be an explanation for” changing work flow” as being claimed? Could it be a good news for us, that they would speed up the procedures?
