Positive. Our civil documents list was the following:

-Passport page

-Photographs

-Marriage certificate

-Police clearance (Canada)

-Birth certificate

We uploaded everything except the police clearance, were DQ'd, and now I have to grab the police clearance. Our lawyer only gave us that website for steps but it wasn't specific about ink vs digital. I plan to bring my interview letter with me tomorrow to the appointment so hopefully Commissionaire's knows which is required because I sure don't. 😬

So it IS police clearance (not security clearance).

1. You book an appointment at the commissionaires

2. When you go there you ask for a police clearance under the Privacy Act

3. They will take your fingerprints digitally (don't think they offer any other form)

4. You pay

5. You will receive the police certificate in the post in 2 - 4 weeks.

The police certificate is the document you need to take to the interview (not any fingerprints).

I am very surprised you were DQ'd without a police clearance. Never seen that happen before, especially because you can't even submit for NVC to review without it. Are you sure you didn't submit the police certificate before? It maybe that your lawyer is asking you to get a new one now, because the old one is more than 1 year old, and they are unaware that the validity of the police certificate is extended to 2 years. Another possibility is the police certificate submitted earlier was the wrong kind, which the lawyer is correcting now....

I would advise you understand the requirements and also clarify everything with your lawyer.

100% did not submit the police clearance beforehand. :) We were approved without submitting. See attached screenie!

Our lawyer was alternating between calling it a security and police clearance so I think that's why I was alternating between the two. I was clear on bringing the document, what I wasn't sure about was the actual fingerprints themselves (ink or digital). Twiz cleared up that it is in fact digital though so I'm all good to go that way. :)

Woah! That's a neat trick by your lawyer. Wish I had known we could comment that way and not submitted the police certificate during NVC stage. Thanks for sharing.

No problem! She's basically taken care of everything and done a fantastic job with it. This is the first time we've had a question and she didn't know the answer so it's great to have the VJ community here for moments like this! :) I'm glad that I was able to share this trick for other folks to benefit from too!

I’ve gotta say I’m so jealous of y’all who live near a panel physician or in driving distance to Montreal. 1250$ later on flights and hotels for the medical and interview and my wallet is crying lol #JUSTICEfortheprairies

but also just happy to have finally made it to this point!

How much time does it take to receive the email to track the passport sent back, after seeing the status Issued on CEAC ? I see the message "issued", saying I should contact them if we do not have it back within 5 working days, but i did not receive any email for tracking so far...

I’m actually interested in knowing the same thing. I checked today and it already says it should arrive within 5 business days, and there was this link:

https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-CA/selfservice/us_courrier_information

First of all, the link didn’t work. Then, when you go to the home page and follow the instructions to your respective country and immigrant visa, it asks whether you’re registering an appointment. I’m really confused. Why would I have to do that?

anyone in the group who got their passports back knows how to track it? Thank you

I feel really bad for the ppl who had interviews for Juneteenth who got told the night before they we all canceled. Seen posting of ppl says we just flew into Montreal and were told no go.

Yes! That was so sad, I can’t believe they had no compassion and just cancelled the night before as if people hadn’t paid for their flights and hotels already.

Back from Montreal and at work (the only computer that has my VJ password saved 😂). My wife was approved at her Monday appointment!

She was in the consulate for over 2 hours, which stressed me out a bit. She said it was over an hour and a half until she was called up to give them her documents, then she was called up for the interview 5 minutes later. Interview itself was very straightforward - she was told that the fact that I uploaded a new 2020 i864 made things easier. My proof of domicile while residing in Canada was also accepted, so if anyone else is planning on that I can give you more details.

I have to go back through the thread now and figure out where to get the A-number to pay the fee (or do we have to wait until we have the passport back for that?). Hopefully moving next week Thursday!

The A number will be on the visa stamp when you get the passport back. The FAQ page has a good explanation for it.

I am in Canada as a US citizen and I am re-domiciling in the US. I have uploaded a lease as well as the last 3 months of utilities and car/home insurance for US residence. Interested in what you gave them. and how the domicile part went. I also have a US employer with w2 paystubs etc. Just wanting to avoid any AP delays etc.

Just a bit more info:

I have been living in Canada for the past 14yrs. I also became a Canadian Cit.  I sponsored my spouse and we were DQ'd on Dec 4th. I am re-domiciling in the US. I have uploaded a lease as well as the last 3 months of utilities and car/home insurance for US residence. I also have a new US employer since April that is allowing me to work remotely until my spouse receives their visa. I am paid by direct deposit into my US bank account. I uploaded my letter of offer/acceptance and paystubs as well as the corresponding bank deposits stmts of my payroll. I also have moved the majority of our household possessions and furniture to US residence. I uploaded the moving costs etc. And I imported one of our vehicles to the US and uploaded the new registration. Is this enough to prove re-domicile? And is it ok if I am staying with my spouse in Canada while he waits to be approved for his visa? Just wanting to avoid any AP delays etc.

Its my understanding if nothing has changed since you uploaded the documents at the NVC stage you do not need to upload a new I-864 and recent taxes are what was uploaded at that time. But I see a lot of people do upload a new I-864 as well as 2020 Taxes.
I was just going to bring both with me incase I am asked I just don't want to upload to CEAC and coz confusion.
Has anyone been asked to show a new I-864 or 2020 Taxes?
