I'd be interested to know on the i 864 as well. I printed the ones we uploaded off nvc from August 2019 when we applied. But don't know if I need new ones.  My interview is first thing Monday morning

We updated ours (gave the signed one) because the value of the assets used to meet the financial requirements changed AND because the last tax years changed anyways (now 2020,2019,2018). I was asked for the I864 and taxes stuff, but the officer did not mention anything about an updated version or the fact he wanted to see the 2020 tax return (I gave the 1040) but at that point in the year it would makes sense if he did.

Also we uploaded every we updated/added before the interview. We live together and he bugged / stopped on it, then I handed him over a job offer of my wife's future US job (starting in a month) and her flight ticket (leaving in 3 weeks before me) to show she is in the process of re-establishing domicile in the US. He said "perfect" and I could tell that was what he was expecting in order to approve the visa.

Hope this can help for those who actually live together in Canada, and still having the domicile in the US in the application.

I had a question about the Green Card filing fee we have to pay after the visa has been approved at the consulate. The USCIS website says they “Strongly Encourage” people to pay after they have picked up their passports, but do you really have to wait until then? Just wondering. Thank you.

I think you have to wait anyways because you will need the number on the visa attached to your passport.

Hi friends, does anyone know what kind of fingerprints need to be done for the security clearance? Our lawyer simply stated fingerprints, but Commissionaire's has both digital and ink listed. Which am I supposed to book for in order to get the clearance done? 😬

How much time does it take to receive the email to track the passport sent back, after seeing the status Issued on CEAC ? I see the message "issued", saying I should contact them if we do not have it back within 5 working days, but i did not receive any email for tracking so far...

1. You do fingerprints when applying for Canadian police clearance, but since you have DQ'd you have already done that.

2. I believe you get fingerprinted when you go to the interview at the consulate.

I am not aware of any other fingerprinting needing to be done? Could you clarify with the lawyer what they are referring to?

We DQ'd without doing the security clearance. We noted this would be provided when we went to the interview, so that's what we're trying to do now. We did ask the lawyer and even she was unsure whether digital or ink was required - only that it had to be done for the RCMP certified police clearance. I ended up booking at Commissionaire's for the digital and when I get there I'll be showing them my letter and telling them truthfully it may need to be ink, I have no idea lol. The website our lawyer gave us for the specific check was this: https://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/en/steps-getting-a-certified-criminal-record-check but it doesn't specify whether digital or ink is required within Canada. Ink for without, but nothing specific for within. :(

Are you sure it is security clearance or police clearance?

I am not aware of any requirement for security clearance.

It’s all digital now. It’s 100% faster then ink as well.

Positive. Our civil documents list was the following:

-Passport page

-Photographs

-Marriage certificate

-Police clearance (Canada)

-Birth certificate

We uploaded everything except the police clearance, were DQ'd, and now I have to grab the police clearance. Our lawyer only gave us that website for steps but it wasn't specific about ink vs digital. I plan to bring my interview letter with me tomorrow to the appointment so hopefully Commissionaire's knows which is required because I sure don't. 😬
