You're not using last year's summer shutdown in your data? Because visa processing was basically dead back then thanks to Covid.

It does seem quite absurd that they're not gonna do much processing over the summer. I will say, I have a feeling they have to do a decent amount of 'prep work' for the Immigrant Visa Interviews. As in they will likely have to spend some time reviewing the DS-260, medical, I-130 evidence and so forth. My guess is that's what they do on the days of the week they don't do the IV interviews. Given the fact there *are* days that the consulate will be open in June but with no interviews scheduled, one could reasonably presume that those days will be used for that 'prep' work.

Anyways, we're just speculating at this point. I'm still debating whether to shunt my case over to London, but I don't know whether that would make the delays even worse or not.

Sadly, we're gonna be pretty much in the dark until if/when we see the interview letter data for June. We should keep the pressure on the consulate to get our cases processed though.

You really think they spend that much time reviewing and studying our cases? No disrespect to the interviewing officers of course, but I was under the impression that they literally pick up the file a couple min before the interview and hence verify the basics and make sure all the documents are in order because everything has already been checked and researched by the USCIS during the I130. I assumed they spend the other days on other categories

Aha, maybe you're right, I am giving them too much credit. If so, there's really not much excuse for failing to interview us on the days they're open. Bleh, really hope that they do at least book some CR/IR interviews over the next few months. I really don't want to be waiting until September. Augh.

I am *so so so* kicking myself for not requesting my interview in London back in Sept 2020. Would have been done months agoooo. v.v

B extensions are not easy to come by and the bar to get one is pretty high high. Plus the waiting for it to get denied or approved are long.

Not likely to happen as you have immigrant intent and to get a TN you must show you do not have immigrant intent. Before just having as USC spouse was enough to deny it.

So maybe best to skip paying the $400 something fee and leave...and go back to being in limbo.

I’m just going to have to accept nothing can be done, and put in my mind that I’ll be lucky if I even get an interview this year. Alright, better makes these last few days with my husband extra special  because next time I’ll see him will be in 2022.

Yeah the interview is more of if ur paper work all lines up. You are who u say u are and if ur documents are real or not. And a quick background check. There is prob more then we know about as well. Like they need to submit everything after like our passports to get stamped ect. I feel the down time is more to get everything resent out. wv Is currently trying to get ppl to move to our state with crazy promotions maybe if he emails in they can look into this back log more..

To who? Are they manual schedules? That’s the only thing that makes sense at this point. This forum should be alight with comments-

if they’re

edit: oh my god they deleted the post from their Facebook. It had SO many comments on it. This proves the accounts are absolutely monitored, and they KNOW that people are upset. Let’s see what happens next.

edit edit: it’s still there, it’s just hidden from the consulate’s timeline and you have to be sneaky to access it. They really don’t want people knowing we are upset huh

That is ridiculous! Nothing to see here, we're doing a great job everyone. 😡😡😡

I'm hoping someone could answer this for me; does the one year expiration of the police clearance go off of the date you were fingerprinted or the date on the top of the page?

the date at the top of the page aka the letter with the results of the clearance not the fingerprints.

Sometimes I feel like I won't get an interview until Dec 2021 LOL (DQ Jan 2021)

After finding out they're not scheduling any IR1/CR1s for June, I told my husband I guess I wont be home until Christmas if I'm lucky

Very true.  Do you think pressure by a US senator would help? Any other ideas??  We are US citizens and our children are US citizens this is crazy to have to wait and wait with no end in sight. Honestly I don't get the point of the interview all of the paperwork is already in the system and they can verify everything. At least low fraud countries should be put on a fast track.

I haven't had much success with my political leaders when I tried in the past.  I live in the wild, wild west though, so that's likely part of it.  So many Latin and South American migrants being detained at the border that no one wants to listen to people who are doing things by the book.

Hey, did you monitor your green card status on USCIS. Did it update status when green card was mailed?

Sign up for USPS informed delivery.  I saw the status change on USCIS, but I didn't have tracking from them.  I could see the envelopes on my Informed Delivery though, even before I saw them on USCIS, so I knew where they were.

Okay thanks, It expires on the 4th of September and I'm really hoping to not have to get another one. My wife should be in the next batch whenever that ends up being but I hope its sometime in the summer..

If you're already in the US and can go without returning to Canada anytime soon you could switch to Adjustment of Status, providing that you did not have that intent or confirm that you wouldn't to the CBP officer on your original entry.

They're obviously uncomfortable. I think it would be a good idea to suggest to our spouses to write to their US Reps/Senators and maybe even suggest a WH.gov petition to get things moving, my hubby asked me yesterday whether it was worth writing to them. The Consulate wants us to put up and shut up, but honestly making noise is the best way to get things moving. Even if it gets them scheduling our interviews for July, I would consider that a win.

Unfortunately, unless you're basically dead and they don't want to have to deal with the rotting bits of you, Montreal doesn't expedite anything.  I tried when I was there - multiple reasons including Kid2's learning team (kiddo has a mood disorder that impacts transitions in the learning environment and had a whole team of people dedicated to helping said child that we really needed to get back to in order for Kid2 to be successful) and nope.  No bueno.

That is awful!!! I knew that Montreal was the WORST for expedite approvals, but wow, that should have been approved
