I would think it would be very helpful if the US did provide clarity whether this was allowed. I know of a few cases where people freely told CBP officers they were working remotely for a foreign employer and not have issues. But also a CBP officer *could* deny entry from it too...and it's unclear whether working remote for a foreign employer would need to be declared as working without authorization on applications.

The intent of the law is to protect American jobs and opportunities for citizens and LPRs...if a foreign national is working for a foriegn employer, that's not an opportunity a USC or LPR is going to get and certainly not taking away from opportunity within the US. The benefits of allowing it however means that tourists can stay on longer work-cations providing needed economic benefit to American cities and communities as well as provide much needed support for those waiting EADs.

I'll have to find the source for where I saw this but working while on US soil without an EAD, even if it is not for a US company, is illegal. It's only a grey area because the IRS doesn't currently go after people who work illegally.

I am not a lawyer and nothing I say is or should be taken as legal advice.

I got my Visa in the mail today,  2 days ahead of schedule.  So excited! My flight is booked for the 14th, cat is scheduled at the vets for her last visit on the 6th for her "medical clearance"

Looking forward to finally being home for good with the hubbins!!

Congrats !

Question : My visa status was updated to "issue" this Tuesday (saying I should received it within 5 days) on the CEAC link. But I haven't received the email from Purolator. Is this normal? Thank you.

Hi hope all is well.

My wife just realized her Canadian drivers license has expired. Her passport is valid and she has a US Dept of Defense ID as well.

She is currently waiting with me in the US. Does anyone think she needs to travel back to get her ID renewed before the interview?

cheers!

Check what your state will require for her to get a new license in your state post interview.  If she doesn't NEED it at the moment, I wouldn't sweat it.  Many people never get a driver's license and as you've stated, she has other forms of ID.

Can anyone please help share their experience in regards to not receiving green card after 90 days? I called USCIS and created a service request ticket. What can I expect out of this?

Mine took 177 days or something silly.  I sent an inquiry through MyUSCIS after the 90 day mark.

At the top of the page, in the blue bar is a search box.  You can search there.

Interesting. Because in the past, whenever I have had B1/B2 stamped for 6 months, if I had later crossed the border, they have not stamped a new one. They just let me go through based on the previous one until its expiration.

I am referring to land borders here only.

If you want to check your I-94 record, just go pull it here.  It has all your travel history across the border as well.

Congrats! If you don't mind, could you let me know what kind of questions did the CO asks?

If you go look at the Montreal consulate reviews page, there are hundreds of reviews with questions asked.  They seem to be quite similar.  I'd go take a look there.

VISA APPROVED on July 23rd! Many thanks to everyone who helped me on this forum, I will be moving to California on Aug 10th (fingers crossed I get my passport back before then). Been very busy wrapping up so didn't get a chance to post here before, apologies!

My appointment was at 10:15am but being too keen I got there at 9:50am and was asked to come back at 10:15am. The security officer asked for my name and checked it off on the list he had. Thereafter, the security asked me to put my electronic devices in the small locker. I was then asked to take the elevator to the first floor and hand in my passport at Window 6. The office was mostly empty with one lady ahead of me in the line. After handing my passport at Window 6, I was asked to sit down and waited for my number to be called. After about 10 mins of waiting, I was called at another Window where they asked for the following documents:

1) Birth certificate (they didn't ask for petitioner's birth certificate, only mine)

2) Marriage certificate

3) Previous marriage divorce certificate

4) Police certificate

After giving the above documents, I was given the Domestic Violence pamphlet. Then I was waiting for another ~10 mins and was called at a different Window. A very nice officer asked me the following questions:

1) How did my spouse and I meet?

2) Which countries have I visited in the last 5 years?

3) What does my husband do for living?

4) What do I do for living?

5) Where would we be living in the States?

After answering those questions, he said “we are faster than the system and that it is slowing down but I do plan to approve your visa” and handed me the “Welcome to USA” letter. I was in tears and told him it has been a very long wait and he said he can understand. Overall, it was a breeze and I was done the entire process in about 30 mins! Good luck to everyone and thank you again for this forum, it took away a lot of anxiety for me and am forever grateful.

Congrats! looks like we are moving to california the same week :D

I have seen some get theirs the next business day after they recieved notification of it being sent out. I'm guessing it has to do with how far from the Montreal Consulate you live.

Fingers crossed you get yours soon!!
