Hiii! If you don't mind me asking what part of Canada are you in? I went to the RCMP in Vancouver today to get a new record and they said It'll take about 4 weeks :( I really hope they didn't give me an accurate time frame and it will be 15 days like yours. I'm not proud of myself for leaving this to the last minute.

Hi. Did you requested yours in RCMP North Van, Richmond or Burnaby? My wife went to RCMP Burnaby and the guy told us 2-3 weeks. Will see if we receive it today or next week.

I sense a bunch of IL coming in that will cover all of Sep DQ making many people very happy and renewing our faith in the consulate operations. It is still possible that you will get your interviews end of June 🙂 it is just a meaningless feeling a feeling that I have

Don't give false hope. Every time our expectations are not met we are disappointed.

That's horrible!!! Is there any way for you to expedite? Even through the pandemic it makes no sense why they are taking so long to get through our cases (we were supposed to be priorities)

Unfortunately, unless you're basically dead and they don't want to have to deal with the rotting bits of you, Montreal doesn't expedite anything.  I tried when I was there - multiple reasons including Kid2's learning team (kiddo has a mood disorder that impacts transitions in the learning environment and had a whole team of people dedicated to helping said child that we really needed to get back to in order for Kid2 to be successful) and nope.  No bueno.

Very true.  Do you think pressure by a US senator would help? Any other ideas??  We are US citizens and our children are US citizens this is crazy to have to wait and wait with no end in sight. Honestly I don't get the point of the interview all of the paperwork is already in the system and they can verify everything. At least low fraud countries should be put on a fast track.

Hey everyone. Just an update that after my interview and approval on March 10, I crossed the Sarnia, ON border on April 24. I rented a U-haul to take my stuff. The officers at the border were really nice. I was called in to activate my visa and was asked the name, DOB, phone number, and address etc. of my wife. The whole process took about 15 - 20 minutes. I was told that my green card would be mailed within 90 days and for SSN I have to get an appointment with SSA.

On May 7, I got my SSN in the mail (I did not get an appointment) and yesterday, May 20, I got my green card in the mail. I was not asked for a signature. So, that was that. Phew!

Just wanted to say thank you to Hawk Riders, DGF and all the wonderful members who have helped me immensely with the process and kept me sane through the uncertain times. To everyone waiting for your ILs, just hang in there; ILs should be on their way soon. Please feel free to ask questions here and in PM if you have any.

Hey, did you monitor your green card status on USCIS. Did it update status when green card was mailed?

Yes, I did. Used this link to track the GC: https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/landing.do and for reference, the receipt number is the one you have on the USCIS Immigrant Visa payment receipt which you pay after your interview.

Up until May 13, it showed a message saying that I have paid the IV fee. On May 14, it changed to 'Green card is ordered to being produced'. On May 19, it changed yet again to 'the card is mailed out' and the USPS tracking number was issued. Yesterday, I received GC in the mail and now it says "The card was delivered to me by the Post Office".

So I been thinking... they delay may be due to Quebec. With the covid cases going up everywhere in Canada but Quebec they may have requested them to not book.

Quebec is doing well and the covid case count has been coming down. They announced the plan to lift restrictions in June, so it's not likely to be the reason.

I was in the May interview batch, I still waited 253 days.

I was referring to the wait for the IL, not the interview. :)

My wife once said that it is literally better for them if we just died and she has a point. The "unless they don't want to have to deal with the rotting bits of you" to too real and honestly exactly how I would characterize the ruthlessness of this particular consulate and the way they are handling things right now.

Yeah I think it was on the 18 that Quebec announced their phase reopening, so if anything they likely have permission to add more appointments @Twiz&Toz. Given that Montreal really is refusing to budge while other consulates at least get something out, I believe that this is intentional. Even if there had been a delay at NVC, clearly this has been resolved and they're still electing not to do anything so...

Additionally, case counts are falling in every province bar Manitoba, so I don't think it's a rest of Canada issue. I guess MTL had a bunch of CO's on vacation in June and they decided to just write the month off. Idk.

Unless I can FOI them to figure out what's going on, it's all pure speculation at best. On the flip-side, we aren't too far away from when they ought to send out IL's for July interviews.

There’s Independence Day at the beginning of July though, I wonder if they will skip a week for that. It seems never ending.
