I tried to reply but my comment disappeared! Short answer: you most likely don't need the birth certificate of the petitioner as NVC states that you only need it if the beneficiary is the petitioners sibling. Montreal told me to follow NVC. Bring any documents you have just in case though!

Yeah you are good. They dont ask for his birth certificate.

Hello everyone,

 

Im currently printing out the joint sponsor most recent 3 years tax returns (pdf version). He lost the original documents so he asked his accountant to send a pdf version. I just realized it the page that required signatures doesn't show the signatures on it. Do you guys think it will be alright?

You might want to check but when we went for our interview we brought the IRS transcripts and no actual tax return. You can download your transcripts on IRS.GOV

Did they ask to see your sponsor/joint sponsor's IRS transcripts?

We were married, so both for the year we were married, just the sponsor for the other years.

For the fully vaccinated exemption. It doesn't matter if US/Canadian shots are mixed on the same card. It just needs to have your full name, lot number, vaccine type, date provided and the provider. Rite Aid put a sticker on my Fraser Health card and they said that would be fine.

 

I presume people who didn't meet the requirements were able to U-Turn and be able to re-enter the US by land, rather than be fined the $5k. XD

I entered last week through Pearson and there was no problem at all with the quarantine exemption. The CBSA officer at Pearson looked at my vaccination card only, not my negative PCR test results from within 72 hours. However, if you are flying the airline checks the negative test before allowing you to board, so this may be why the CBSA officer asked if I had it, but didn't ask to see it. I had a paper PCR test result, but electronic would also have been fine.

i checked the visa stats last night looks like Canada is processing about 500 b2/b1 visas a month what are the chances when pending a ir1 visa we would be approved for the visitor visa? Just thinking of some way to be able to see my husband and not risk being told no and causing issues.

If you are a Canadian citizen you can just go down to the US for a visit no issues. I am visiting my husband right now

I have visited my wife in the US 4 times in the past 1.5 years and was never asked to prove ties. Im going again this week.

 

What are some other ways to prove ties to Canada if one is unemployed and doesnt pay rent/mortgage?

 

I have car insurance (but not my own car) , 2 Canadian bank accounts, travel insurance solely for travelling to US and it reflects duration of my upcoming trip.

 

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I was asked once if I had a return ticket (but they didn't want to see it) and the one time they actually wanted me to prove ties the only thing they cared about was my NOA1, NOA2, etc. I was unemployed and living with my parents at the time so I didn't have much else to show and I'm glad that's all they wanted to see.
