Hi everyone,

My wife and I are moving out of California soon and we are wondering if we need to do anything besides update our address in our UCSIS account?

Additionally, will we get moved to the back of the line in our new state (as if we just filed now) or will we get placed in line with October filers (when we filed)?

I've read online we may actually get approved faster because California has the longest line..but not sure if this is true.

Thank you in advance.

Besides updating USCIS, file a change of address at the post office and sadly monitor the status of your case. Maybe weekly (not sure of a good frequency)

I have heard of some people whose notification still went to their old address.

I can speak of the speed of processing but would guess that it varies across the board depending on workload.

I-865 is not necessary in their case because they are not done with AOS yet, unlike you.  Their I-864 is not yet in force.

This is the best option as it will then tie it to the case numbers for different forms you have submitted.

It actually is best practice to do this as oftentimes online form doesn’t change address but the I-865 does (even if there’s no AOS in rice yet).
