Having a bike and my own transportation was one of the best decision I made regarding Philippines, I will never be without my own wheels there.

The Mio Aerox we rented in Bohol was extremely handy getting around the island but there are some urban areas like Manila I would leave driving to the professionals.  I'm also a little concerned about how well little scooter tires would do on some of the less even country roads.  If I could ship my KTM Duke 390 with Givi saddlebags there it would be an easy option but from what I've read trying to get a used motorcycle into the Philippines is nearly impossible.

I have read it almost impossible and if you did registering it would be another issue

That Aerox is a cool looking bike and priced right, Never ridden one.  If you get any bike put two very bright LED head lights on them that work off your bikes manufacture light switch, this is for safety for riding at night for debris in the road.

Manila area I wouldn't use a bike there, but I only spend a few days there each trip.  Traffic is silly there, and now Davao City where I keep my motorbike the traffic has gotten very bad as well the last 6 years.

The little 155cc engine was surprisingly zippy even with both of us on it.  I really miss riding around on a sunny day close to the ocean.
