Adding documents to CEAC AFTER approval

So our documents have been approved in CEAC but they recommended adding a joint sponsor. If we add documents to CEAC now, will it delay the time it takes for an interview? Like restart the process of getting the documents accepted. Or is it better to not upload them at all? We also need to upload new proof of employment for the petitioner

No delay, but what you got is not really a recommendation to YOU.  It's a boilerplate message they send to everybody who is using assets instead of or to supplement income in order to qualify.  A person with a million buck in the bank would get the same message.  If you think you are borderline, sure, get a joint sponsor.  Otherwise, just ignore it.

Yes. We got the email mid July and when I log into CEAC it says accepted next to everything.

No need to upload joint sponsor documents if you already got DQ.  But if your income + asset level is not well above the minimum requirement, I would still recommend preparing joint sponsor documents to bring to the interview, in case the consul officer asks.  If they don't ask, no need to bring up the matter.

Just checking that you received two emails, one with the subject: Notice regarding your Immigrant Visa Case becoming Documentarily Qualified. Sometimes after a review everything shows up as accepted in CEAC but they also send a review note (such as the one about a joint sponsor) and still expect a response. If you got a note about providing proof of employment for the petitioner it sounds like they want more... When NVC is satisfied you get the DQ email as well as a message in CEAC that says something like "all required documents have been received and approved."

Only mentioning this as I have noticed a few people on VJ who see accepted next to everything and don't realize they need to respond to the review notes to become DQ. Sorry if this doesn't apply to you!

We have two emails, documentarily qualified and notice regarding case, both on the same day.

I read somewhere that if we do take the joint sponsor forms to the interview, they may delay the visa approval as they are not uploaded to CEAC, is this true? Also, i do believe we may need a joint sponsor solely based on the three previous tax returns. All three previous ones for the petitioner were 12k or below due to mainly studying throughout those years. She now has a job worth 30k+ a year but that job literally started a week ago. We will bring the paystubs and new job offer to the interview too and that may lead to another question. Should we actually upload these to CEAC too since the job has changed from the one we actually uploaded?

So is it a good idea to upload to CEAC before hand or just take it to the interview? I just don’t want it to delay everything if we upload and they have to check it again

Yes

Is this a yes to uploading joint sponsor documents in CEAC or yes to bringing them to the interview? How does it work if you upload documents in CEAC after DQ?

Asking as we are in a similar position - planning to use assets to qualify but have a joint sponsor I-1864 and all supporting documents (tax transcript, W-2s, paystubs) that we were going to bring to the interview as a Plan B.

I think if you are planning to use it as a plan b then I wouldn’t upload them to CEAC. But if you know you are definitely going to use them then upload them. I believe that any documents extra that are taken to the interview, it has a slight delay on your case as they need them on CEAC. So it’s your call really.

personally for me, I think I will wait until the interview is scheduled and then add the additional documents to CEAC at that point. Then I doubt there should be any delays. Sorry I know my wording is terrible but I hope it makes sense

I’ve just reached the same conclusion about uploading once we have an interview date! We don’t want any delays at the other end.

Saw this yesterday with lots of relevant info:

I imagine it varies on an embassy-by-embassy basis, but I have read a few recent accounts of US Embassy Manila sending interviewees back out after the initial screening interview so they could scan and upload additional documents to CEAC that they had brought for the interview. m Then return to have the interview with the console.  Apparently local entrepreneurs have noticed the need and have convenient sidewalk scanning and uploading service available out in front of the embassy for like $10 to $30. (which seems a bit steep for Manila)

I’m thinking we will wait until we actually have an interview appointment and then upload a few more things that may be helpful, just to be overly cautious about not accidentally delaying anything in NVC.
