Maybe I shouldn't chime in here because I'm not married yet, but I'll tell ya--> Because it is so difficult in some countries to get a visa to come here as a tourist, USCIS and some of the ridiculous consulate policies are probably indirectly responsible for SO MANY marriages between USC and foreigners....and I suspect that this trend will only increase the more people keep chatting on-line. BTW-I did NOT meet my fiance in line, but on vacation.

Anyhoo, When I reflect on my own experience, the hoops that they've put us through, if anything, it has made our relationship that much stronger. Instead of cutting and running at the first sign of a complication in this Visa process, my fiance and I became really determined to see this through and we are DESPERATE to be together. So, on one hand I have th US Immigration laws to thank for that-->in some twisted way, our love is stronger than a lot of 'so-called' happily married couples I know.

After everything we've been through, I feel pretty certain that it's gonna be 'TIL DEATH DO US PART and I don't even hesitate when I say that.

Yes, definitely. If he had been a USC I probably would have waited until after graduate school to get married. I'm certain he's the one I'm meant to be with, so getting married a few years earlier in order for him to be with me sooner seems like a small price to pay.

We got married quicker not because of distance, but because my husband is a VERY impatient man. If he had had his druthers, we would have been married even quicker than we did!

Nope, we'd already been talking to each other online for 3 years been burned before, wasnt gonna jump from the frying pan into the fire too quick. Waited until i had been divorced 13 years before i re-married

No. I lived in Europe when we got together. Then moved back to the US. So we took it easy for a while, then finally said "We need to get married".

If there had been any other way other than marriage, my husband and I would have done it. We knew we eventually wanted to be married...just not at the speed the USCIS dictated. However, it's all good. *looks at clock* In about 45 minutes it will be July 7...our first anniversary. Regardless, being married to my beloved has been and will continue to be the best thing I've ever done.

Yes. Too difficult to carry on a LDR, IMO...unless you can both visit each other often.
