Timeline

Should not cause any issues in divorce court.  As to eventual naturalization, it only impacts him relative to when he can apply, he will have to wait for five years instead of three.  You did not clarify, did he receive a 2 year or 10 year Green Card?  If a 2 year, he will have to file for Removal of Conditions with a divorce waiver.

The only effect I can think of is the fact that a divorce does not alter your I-864 obligations...and possibly when he can apply for citizenship.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..
