Hi,

My petitioner and I recently submitted required docs - DS260, Financial Docs, Civil Docs etc.
Now we are on step 10, Interview Preparation. How long until we receive an email for the appointment and a medical exam?

Thanks!

Brian

I'm not sure anyone can predict other than it will be a while as the backlog remains long and Manila is in ECQ again.

FYI, you self schedule the medical once you know the interview date.

YMMV

Once your case reaches the from of the queue at NVC for your consulate, NVC will schedule your interview.

1. Case is DQ'd by NVC.

2. Case then enters NVC queue for your consulate and waits at NVC.

3. Consulate informs NVC of available interview date for upcoming month.

4. NVC schedules interview when case reaches the front of the queue for that consulate.

5. NVC notifies person of interview date via email.

6. NVC then sends case to consulate.

After the interview is scheduled, it can take several days to several weeks for the consulate to receive the case.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Thanks for the comment! Yeah, I figured ECQ would affect the wait time, I was just hoping not much because most can be done online but yeah, it is what it is.

Thanks for a detailed comment! This roughly me a picture on what's going on behind the scene, didn't realize how extensive the whole process is.

Interviews are not done online, but require face to face interaction.  The pandemic had had a HUGE impact.

YMMV

Sorry, I was pertaining to the review process being done online. My thought process probably got mixed up with the other comment. But yeah, you're right this will probably be a domino effect with the backlogs.

If you've just recently submitted your documents in CEAC, then you'll have to wait for NVC to review and tag your case as Documentarily Qualified.  Without that DQ email in your inbox, your case does not get in line for interview at the embassy.  For an indication of review wait time at NVC, check "Current case review time" here -- https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/nvc-timeframes.html
