So here is what happened. Went to the interview and the CO approved me and then the next business day they said I need to do form 5535. They returned my passport and paper attached it said I was in Adminstrative Processing. I sent the form the same day they asked for it but they haven’t confirmed receipt of it. I do see that my case date on Ceac is changing but I haven’t recieved any response till date. I did get the automated message that they have recieved my inquiry but no response.

I added another post of what happened on the day of the interview just in case since I did click on quote

Oh okay, I see.

It took about a week for them to confirm that they received our form. We noticed that they responded to our emails on Tuesdays and Thursdays only. I’d say give it a week from when you submitted the form then email again. But if the CEAC date is changing that means they are doing “something” on your application, so that’s a positive.

Also what is your nationality if you don’t mind providing?

I’m the US citizen. My wife is Kenyan and had been living in the Middle East for 10 years.

Got it. Thank you so much. So expect about 2 months right? And keep emailing for update every 1 week?

Yes that’s about right. Good luck and I hope it goes even faster for you. I’m surprised you guys got it as I’d think a CR1 would have already gone through this vetting. My wife was the only one who got it when she interviewed but she was also the only K1. All others were green cards.

Yes I know about 2 other people who got it and are Egyptians. Maybe they are giving it like candy now for certain nationalities

Hello every one

My fiancé live in Iraq and  finished her K1 visa interview last week in UAE because the U.S embassy in Iraq is closed, and they gave her a blue paper marked on  DS-553 & passport. Her understanding was she need to upload those documents online, but when I log in on https://ais.usvisa-info.com/ , there is no option to upload any documents. Instead, I submitted a request but I got the mail document with a bar code. Is the only way to send these documents is  by mailing them? If so, how she can mail her passport how will be able to back home? BTw, she filled the DS5535 on the next day of interview and went to the embassy but they said we are not able to take it by hand. Thanks

hello, did your visa come as well? How long did it take for you?

If they took your passport, once your DS is approved, they’ll send you an email with instructions on how to send your passport back.  Once you send it, it’ll likely be 1 or 2 days for them to send it back with the visa inside. We sent ours on Wednesday night and had it back with the visa on Friday morning.

I’m not sure how it works if they kept your passport, but I’d assume the time would be even shorter.

Sorry, I meant if they gave your passport back for the first situation.
