NVC Processing & delaying consular interview

I (beneficiary) am currently at the NVC stage and I recently finished submitting my AOS docs pending review.

I intend to go to USA sometime in mid 2023 due to family reasons. Hence I am trying to drag my NVC stage out. I've seen advices online about people paying their IV & AOS fees many months apart so that their case stays open. Does this work? Has anyone done this? If you have dragged your case out, for how long and how did you do it?

Thanks in advance for your sharing!

Yes, that will work.  Just delay payment and/or submitting documents to NVC.  You must remain in contact with them at least 12 months. However, another method is to proceed as normal, then make a quick trip to the US  (and immediate return to home country) after the visa is issued.  Good luck.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Thank you! This is a silly question, but do they process your AOS and IV separately or at the same time?

Meaning to say, will they start reviewing your documents for AOS once it's submitted or only after both IV & AOS are paid & submitted?

Thank you once again!

NVC will start reviewing your documents only after all fees have been paid, and all required financial support documents + civil documents have been submitted.
