religion and marriage

This is quite a difficult topic for me really... I have been in discussions with a minister just recently trying to explain to him why I want to get married in a church etc...

My fiance is a Christian and does attend church regularly and religion is quite an important thing to him. I have been baptised (In the Church of England) so am a Christian too, but I am not particularly religious. I do not attend church services and to be honest, I can't remember the last time I even entered a church. I wouldn't say that I am an atheist because I do believe that there is 'something' up there... I am just not sure what... I suppose some would call me a fence sitter...

Chris would never try and force his beliefs on me and same goes for me too, I would never tell him that he is wrong to believe what he believes. I respect the fact that he is religious and I know that it would be super important for him to be married under god.

I don't think it will ever cause us a problem though

We're different religions (he's Christian, I'm Unitarian Universalist) but our religions are very important to us and we wouldn't have married someone whose beliefs were incompatible with our religions.

I was religious before I met him and he was religious before he met me. We both wanted to marry someone of the same religion. It's an important thing for both of us. I personally could not marry someone who did not share my religious beliefs. However, I do not hold any opinion on what other people choose regarding religion and its influence in their marriage.

I was born into a Christian family but I consider myself to be spiritual not religious. My husband is Muslim. I may at some point convert but until then I am learning all I can about Islam and Christianity. I will not convert for him as I feel this is a personal choice. It would be nice to be able to share the same religion, it's just not a requirement for our marriage.

My husband and I are not the same religion. I am Christian and grew up in the southern baptist church. I don't really attend church anymore but my faith is strong. My husband is Muslim and I respect him and his beliefs and he respects mine. We agree to disagree.
