Hi everyone. My I-485 application for Green Card based on marriage to a US citizen is pending and my combo EAD and Advance Parole card is about to expire in a few weeks. I submitted my EAD renewal application without I-131 form about 3 months ago. I only submitted I-765 and I did not know that I-131 will be required at that time. Today I noticed that submitting the I-131 form is necessary to renew a combo card and I'm going to submit it as soon as possible. My question is how this will effect the priority date for my EAD renewal application? Will I receive a combo card or two separate cards? If I receive a combo card will it be based on the priority date of my initial I-765 application or this later I-131? I appreciate any information or experience you can share with me about this case.

They may or may not connect the 2 cases. If not connected, then you'll separately receive:

  • an EAD card that says "NOT VALID FOR REENTRY TO U.S."; and

  • a I-512L document

Thank you for your reply. My main concern is to get a combined card with the priority date of my new I-131 application not the priority date for my current I-765 application. This will cause I receive the new card later than the 6 month auto extension period of my current card and I may loose my authorization to work for several months!

What matters is that Form I-765 was properly filed on time. The priority date for Form I-765 will not change.

I hope so! I will ship my I-131 application on next business day and see what happens. Thank you.
