Greetings,

The example form I485 has social and A number filled in. Does that mean one can't apply for AOS without social or A#? I always thought I can apply for AOS after marriage (which is DONE :-) ) What should I put there?

Also anyone has experience Virginia DMV? It seems I can get license without social but they need proof of legal residency which needs some sort va address (bank letter, postal change of address, home ownership etc). So appreciate if anyone has done this before getting social.

Thanks in advance.

First Congratulations on your wedding.....

You do not need a SSN or an A# to file for AOS.... just put NONE in the box...

If you came on a K1 you will have an A# it is on your visa (top right I belive)

can't help with the DMV as each state is diffrent... In MA you need a SSN and either EAD or Greencard to get a DL....

Good Luck

As a K-1 visa holder you are eligible (or at least you should be) to receive a SSN. You can read more at the SSA (Social Security Administration) website here

Might as well go ahead and get a social security number since you pretty much need it for everything in the US. Good Luck!!
