Ours is 2 weeks right now as well (Aug 11 approval) - we are going to wait at least another 2 weeks because it doesn’t seem like cases are getting to the NVC earlier than at least 4 weeks

Hello All , I got my case# and inv# today after calling them and the status shows "At NVC" now.

Hi Vagabond, when you called them today were you placed in queue?  I am trying to call all morning and after the recorded message they just hang up.

Can someone clarify something for me? After NOA2, you get your case number when the case reaches NVC or when the case is transferred to the respective consulate ? Separately the beneficiary receives a letter? Is it when NVC sends case to consulate that you can officially apply for the visa?

Removal of Conditions (I-751)

2/20/24: I-751 packet delivered

2/22/24: Receipt Number available on USCIS Portal

I called them right at 7 EST and was able to get hold of a human after about 25 minutes. If you are calling them later in the day  during business hours, its likely that NVC just plays a recorded message and hangs up. I am guessing at this point the NVC phone queue can only hold certain number of phone calls in a waiting queue and anyone calling after that is not going to go through. Since they are available until 12 midnight EST, I also read that one may have better luck by calling either very early at 7 am or latter towards the end of the day.

Yes, you get your case number when it reaches NVC, it will be a case number which dictated which consulate/country the case is assigned to. You can then use the number to login to https://ceac.state.gov/ceac/ and check the status of your case and fill in DS-160 which you will do once the case says ‘ready’ (which means it’s been sent to your consulate)

I’m not entirely sure if the beneficiary receives a letter…if you’re referring to packet3 I think it’s an email. Best is to wait for the consulate to contact before filling in the DS-160

Usually NVC will create case number in the system around 5 - 10 business days after they received your case from USCIS, so before the case is transferred to respective consulate. Then after the consulate received your case, they will send an email to petitioner to confirm about your case and ask the beneficiary data (name, address, email, phone number). Then they will send an email to beneficiary to inform the docs they needed from beneficiary (the email called P3).

What subject /email address should i be searching for in my email box?

Did you mean by the US embassy email?

I don't know if the subject would be the same template or not but what I got is : "K-1; Case number from NVC - Beneficiary name"

For the email address, you can check Brazil portal / Rio De Janereiro Consulate Information, it mentioned several email. It usually one of them.

https://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=Brazil&cty=Rio De Janereiro

When I checked, the embassy just forward the reply email from my fiancé (petitioner). Also check your spam folder.

So just received the welcome letter (I-797) after my NOA2 which was several days ago. The letter came sooner than I expected. The letter says that NVC processing should be complete within two to four weeks. So from what I have seen, I should wait about two weeks before calling NVC for the Case Number. Once I have the Case Number I can see when my case is sent to the Embassy.

Are there any other steps I should be taking? Honestly I have no idea how long this phase will be for waiting but given what I have been reading, I guess I need to be prepared for the long-haul again...

Thank you for this! I just know some folks who have posted here have timelines that line up with NOA2 being around August 10th-ish, and fiancé and I received ours the 13th.
