Hi All, last year I submitted form I-751 to remove conditions on my permanent resident status (I currently have a green card). USCIS sent an I-797 letter extending my conditional status for 18 months, but this letter expires in two months. Does anybody know what happens when this letter expires? My main concern is that I'm no longer going to be able to travel outside the US (which I do very often to visit family). I've tried to contact the 800-375-5283 number but they have very limited options and can never get pass the recorded calls.

Thanks!

Dan

Say infopass when you call them. You can make an appointment at your local office to get a stamp in your passport that serves as proof of legal residency.

Although your actual status has not expired, in order to travel outside the US, you will have to get a stamp in your passport as evidence of your LPR status.  Good luck.  Many of us are in the same boat, unfortunately.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Call that number, don't do anything up until the point the system will tell you that it understands complete sentences and will ask you what do you need, then say "technical problem" then the system will ask you, do you have a problem with filing a case or a technical problem, say again "technical problem" and the the system will transfer you immediately to the live agent, schedule an appointment and bring to the appointment your expired green card, and your national passport, good luck
