I-797 Confusion

We just received our NOA2 I-797 form which states that our petition was approved and forwarded to the listed consulate. It doesn’t mention anything about NVC. Do all K1 visas go through NVC or do some get forwarded directly? We don’t know who to follow up with as their is no case number. Please advise. Thank you so much!

All K1 cases go through NVC where they are assigned a case number.  The cases will sit at NVC until the consulate notifies NVC that there are K1 interview slots available.  Only then will NVC forward the cases to the consulate.
