I’m from Ohio and my fiancé is from Canada. He is moving to the states. Since him visiting me can interfere with the K1 Fiancé Visa process… would I be able to visit him in Canada?

1.  How will his visit interfere with the k1 process?

2.  Of course you can visit him.

YMMV

Him visiting you in the US won't interfere provided he follows whatever COVID things he has to do to enter the US and he leaves the US when he is supposed to. And yes you're allowed to visit him provided you're vaccinated since Canada's soon going to open up their borders to vaccinated Americans only.

I do wish I knew the source of this regularly posted misinformation that you cannot enter the US as a visitor during the petition and visa application process.

Traveling to the US for a visit will not interfere with the K1 process, unless he lies to CBP when questioned at the point of entry.  If he answers CBP's questions truthfully, yet gets denied entry for not having strong ties to Canada, it still won't negatively impact his K1 case.

There's a pinned thread with 150+ pages about fiances visiting the US during the K1 process.  Here's a post from a Canadian fiancee --

But, it would be okay if I visit him in Canada?

The reason it could interfere with the process is because they may think he’s trying to move here already and/or not return home before everything is approved.

That will interfere with his intended visit,  it will NOT interfere with the K1.   Important difference.

YMMV

They never suspected that of me in the 40+ times that I visited my husband.

Hi Debbiedoo,

That’s amazing that he came to visit you throughout the whole process. I asked my immigration lawyer and he said that him visiting the states would make authorities  be aware of the K1 petition and think he is trying to get around the process, which could harm the petition so I’m trying to avoid that of all cost lol. But if I was to visit him, I’ll definitely visit COVID protocol calls.

He literally came down every third week for 3 years. during the entire time we were dating and during the entire immigration process.

as long as he is employed and has ties to canada (job, bank accounts, home, etc), there should be no issues.

there truly is no reason for an attorney unless there are mitigating issues that require one (such as legal problems that may require waivers of some kind). If you can read and follow instructions, the K1 process is very easy.

Yeah, I hired one just in case of anything happening. He does have a job and all that.  We’re waiting for a interview date for him hopefully soon!
