Hi all!  My son obtained his US passport through Child Citizen Act of 2000. He still has his green card and it is expiring on Aug 27,2021.  Im not sure if we would need to inform USCIS in writing that he now has a US passport.  Since we received the passport Ive pretty much not done anything.  I don't know what is the next step..should we  just surrender the green card? Is there anyone here who has gone through the same route?

Please help.  Would highly appreciate you advise.

No, you keep that. For example, it can be presented during the optional Form N-600 process.

He is now a US citizen and he now has his US passport. I.e. no further steps needed.

Just keep it with you as  a memorabilia (optionally punch a hole on its serial number to make sure that it wont be misused if someone steals it) except that, USCIS never cares about it at this moment. Even if you return it also, they will feed it to the shredder teeth .

Surprised you were not asked to hand in his green card for the passport process. Anyway, don’t need to do anything, the expiry is meaningless as the card doesn’t do anything any more. As above if you apply for an n600 they’ll ask for it.
