Hello,

I am a Canadian Born male 32 YO recently married to a US born Female 40YO. We meet all the requirements for the CR1 and will be filling shortly. We are both saddened to see the long wait time but understand this is a first come first serve process.

4 years ago I attained my Italian Citizenship through birthright and have my passport. Though I currently live and work in Canada I am wondering if I would have faster filing process if I applied through the US consultee in Italy as opposed to Canada.

I am new to this entire process and am a week in to learning these processes.

Thank you all, this is a wonderful community.

Hello,

I, like you, find myself in a similar situation, except I am a Canadian PR with UK citizenship.

My husband and I have only most recently started our visa journey and due to a serious backlog at the Montreal Consulate, I am looking to the London Embassy for  the medical and interview stage.

If you look here https://www.visajourney.com/timeline/irstats.php you can view statistics over the last 300+ days. In your case it appears Italy looks ‘better’ in terms of average days between NOA2 and interview (that’s the stage when your application is approved to the time of interview) than Montreal. It may or may not be so, however perhaps closer to the time of the case being approved, you can decide. That is what I intend to do.

Welcome and all the best to you as you navigate your visa journey. There are lots of guides on this site so I encourage you to read and become familiar with them.
