Oh also they are really flexible in mine and I think others' experience and it should be pretty easy to book and / or rearrange if needed around your embassy date when you have one. I arrived two hours early and they let me in when I arrived. So no worries on that score.

Hello  @Tristesse could i ask you for advice regarding the transportation,Im in Edinburgh .... and if you stayed overnight what place would you recommend ? Thank you

Hi. I flew from Inverness and stayed in the Travelodge Vauxhall. Because mainly due to an early appointment and not being able to bring much other than your paperwork into the embassy.

It was fine, basic but there is a Waitrose right next door and it's a nice area. The only problem was only local cabs are allowed down that street and the one I ordered from the hotel wasn't prompt enough for my liking so I walked. It isn't far.

For the medical I stayed near Luton airport and cabbed in. I don't know why we can't do this in Edinburgh or Glasgow 🤨

I used the Minicabit app both times and they were great.

Thanks for that ! I like that Travelodge is just a walking distance from the embassy, I know what you mean ! I wish we could do this here in Scotland, having a Consulate in Edinburgh but it doesn’t do any visas.I will download the app, thank you so much

I would first make sure I had everything needed for the medical in hand such as police certificate, immunizations, summary care record, etc, etc.

Once you have that in hand, I suggest find an interview date first. Since all the covid changes, there was a lot of times that no appointments showed up on the calendar. Not sure what the current situation is.  Secure an interview appointment then call to make your medical appointment about 7-10 days (at least) before the interview.

Fix your Ds-260 anytime before the interview.

Visa Medicals website with list of what to bring to appointment https://visamedicals.co.uk/united-states/

@Wuozopo, can you please help clarify something for me? So in the post I quoted you liked to a "Visa Medicals" practitioner, but on the US Embassy website, they state that the examination will take place at a "Knightsbridge Doctors" office. Furthermore, they do not mention the need for a summary care record.

The reason I would like to clarify this is because my partner is currently being treated for a mental health condition. We would rather just state on the required form that there is no mental health concerns, instead of having to get a doctor's note and all that. I want to clarify that I'm not missing something.. will a summary care record be required, despite it not being listed on the embassy website? (FYI we are seeking a K1 visa)

Going back a decade…..The clinics authorized to give medicals were named “Knightsbridge Doctors” for many, many years. There were 2 locations… one more near Knightsbridge and the other in the Marylebone area.  The visa exams were handled in Marylebone except for rare occasions when the X-ray machine was broken or something like that.

There must have been an ownership shake-up a few years ago because the Marylebone location became named “Visa Medicals”. Same location, same phone, same doctors, and basically the same website look. I noticed when my bookmark    quit working properly. So the visa clinic has a new name, but when you see reference on here to “Knightsbridge”, it is the exact same place but no longer named that. The embassy website  changes fairly often, but some things just don’t get noticed like the clinic having a new name.

Yes, a Summary Care Record is now required. If it mentions mental health or anti-depressant meds, for example, then a short explanation written by a medical professional will be required. It’s a layer added by Visa Medicals clinic to catch out people who would  not reveal issues unless there was obvious scars showing past self-harm or suicide attempts. An attempted over-dose person could hide their struggles if they could act cheery and make sense when they spoke. All the doctor’s casual chit-chat at the exam was(is) evaluating mood and mental health.

Here is the website of the clinic. Click United States for the list of what is needed at the exam. https://visamedicals.co.uk
