I always found that a rolled up newspaper worked very well.

The fly wins.

I have sprayed it multiple times with Windex, bleach cleaner, Easy Off Bam. Nothing keeps this fly down.

Every time I roll up a newspaper it's miles ahead of me.

I have managed to shoo it out to the porch a couple of times but I can never close the window and door fast enough and it comes right back in.

I've decided to just coexist with the fly until its death. Unfortunately, according to google, that is 15 to 30 DAYS!!!

I also found out from google that a house fly can travel up to 6 miles in 24 hours. That means this thing could make it to MANHATTAN if it would just get out of my ghetto Bronx apartment!!!

Edited to add: I really am not that OK with the fly being with me for another 2 weeks, so any other suggestions would be appreciated. Do they sell fly paper in this country???

 This thread is hilarious! I really hope you get that fly out of your house. He seems very smart, he might not fall for the fly paper. Did you try hairspray? That sounded like a good idea.

Get a cat. They love flies - the best darn toy a cat can find - and tasty too.

I used to have a friend in school who would catch a fly, tie a strand of human hair on one of it's leg and use it as a leash. Voila, pet fly on a leash. lol. Kept us amused for many many high school classes. rofl

You could always get it stoned and then put some dorito crumbs lined up towards an open window, wait for it to get the munchies and then close the window once it's found it's way out.

There's a fly that's been buzzing around my house for the last three days and it's driving me crazy. I've tried to swat it but it's too fast for me. Any suggestions??? I'm going nuts here.

Wait for it to die; flies don't live long.

100% ammonia will kill it....spray it with that  i used to have a spray bottle when i was a kid working in a restaurant. it's great for eye hand coordination and keeps down the fly population in the restaurant.

OK, I'm going to buy some ammonia. Apparently the fly will live for up to 4 weeks, so I don't think I'm prepared to let it stick around. Besides it might be a female and leave me with some offspring.

I have a cat but the fly's been occupying air space above her zone. Besides which, she's an adorable cat but can't catch anything. She runs around after bugs and stuff, but just kind of watches them and never catches them.

Wish me luck with the ammonia...

They do sell fly strips in this country, but I have NO IDEA where you would get them in city, they sell them at feed stores, (like for livestock) maybe you could order them online??? I am so sorry for your pesky housemate!! I know they can drive a person CRAZY, especially when they are giant muntant flies like a B-52 bomber!!!

Good Luck

Ahh, reminds me of my childhood....sitting on the front porch at night with Ma and Pa listening to the crickets, the rain frogs, and the zapping of mosquitoes......Ah sweet symphony of Southern childhoods.
