So when I was younger and stupider I got a ticket for about 700 for possession of marijuana and a faulty tail light. This was about 10 years ago. I don't know the exact date or have anything documenting it. It's been expunged from my record and everything. I called the county clerk and was asking for a certified letter from the court showing that there is no record of my offense. They said they don't have any sort of certification but she did say she could write a letter and emboss it with a seal and have it notarzied. Is this going to be good enough? And will not knowing dates or having receipts hurt me? I would greatly appreciate any info on this.

I had a lot of minor criminals records and I never disclosed it, probably forgot about it at the time. DWI, Trespassing, Fighting and even had to go to court one time for burglary of coin operated machine, I had a jury and everything, Judge stopped the trail about 10 minutes into the case and said case closed, and  the defendant is not guilty,  The District Attorney started to get angry, Judge told her to shut up or he would get her for contempt, it was pure sweetness, and I was innocent.

I've heard a few stories like this.  Even convicted felony arsonists that didn't disclose were approved.  In my case the charges were dropped and I expunged the arrest.  It was 30 years prior.  I guess we were just lucky.  I had one misdemeanor and it was expunged by the Circuit Court and it bit me.  For silent readers, i wouldn't chance it.  It is possible you will slide through but if you don't it makes for a very long process to get back on track.
