I was just wondering... statistics-wise.. how many K1 visas are denied? And if so, why? Just want to know the do's and don'ts

Thanks!

A K1 or any visa for that matter can be denied for a number of reasons. Too many to even list at once.

For example grounds of inadmissibility (i.e. prior convinctions, drug use, prior overstays, medical issues, etc).

Or fraud and misrepresentations.

Not being eligible for the visa, i.e. already married, under age, same sex marriage, close family member marriage, etc.

Procedurial reasons. Didn't pay the visa fee, medical fee, didn't schedule an appointment, etc.

I am sure others will add many more reasons to be denied.

You can translate them yourself and have the notarized.

when in doubt call the immigration 800 number. I do all the time. When they don't answer my question clearly, I hang up dial again and get someone else. Usually that solves my problem. They are very vague answering questions, but once in a while they can help and suggest things.

Speaking of denials I sent application I-129F last Friday, along with it I sent 13 pictures. however, I neglected to label all of them with exact dates, our complete names, and detail of the places. I did label like 5 or 6 this way but the rest are actually old pictures and I did not label them (can't recall dates because they are from 1998). My fiance and I go way back since I was 14 and he was 15, so lots of old pictures.

Can anyone tell me if this would be a reason for them to return my package asking me to label all pictures fully. I figure since at least some of them are, that they wont' bother.

Thank for any feed back.

If it will make you feel more comfortable, I only enclosed one photo copy of one picture with no date on it when I sent in my I-129F. I had no problems or RFE. I think it's important to send at least one picture of the two of you together and any it would have been obvious to any idiot that the picture I sent in was taken in China. The important "must have" documents are photocopies of your passport showing the days you entered and left the country, airline boarding passes, hotel receipts, etc.

Yep, I have a friend who just completed the removal of conditions on his GC. When they applied for the K1, they didn't include any pictures. Pics are not required. The primary evidence of having met are the passport stamps, airline tickets, hotel receipts, etc.

They're not separated out by K-1 versus other visas, but you can get a lot of statistics regarding visa denials from this DHS report. In particular lists of grounds for denials, number of visas denied, and number of grounds for denial overcome are in this table. But it doesn't specifically list how many K-1s are denied for each of those reasons.

They don't deny on a whim. They can only deny with a reason, and they have to give you the reason. If they start to deny you, they'll give you the reason, and tell you what you can do to overcome the denial (if this happens, be sure that, in the emotional confusion, you get a paper from them giving this info). If you are a bona fide couple, if you have shown that you've met the legal requirements, you'll eventually be approved.

If you're worried, during the time that you're waiting, it may not hurt to read up on INA 212 and verify that none of those grounds would apply for the alien half of your couple. Or if you're not sure about some of those grounds, what they mean or whether they apply to you, research and/or ask more questions here.

But try to relax.
