AOS can be filed at any time after arrival.  Plans change.  Intent is established at POE.  There is no 90 day rule, but it's a common myth.

AOS  should be filed before I-94 expires.

Agreed that 90 day rule is a myth and kudos to @HRQX for digging up the conclusive proof.

Thankyou everyone. My parents are here from march 2021. They are scheduled to go back on aug 29th. I recently started a job and it was getting difficult for me to manage everything with kids that's why i thought to  extend their stay.
i never knew that we can apply AOS after originally applying that they will have interview in Pakistan otherwise I would have applied it in march/april when they came here.
covid has ruined everything. They are dq since oct 2020.

thankyou once again.

Just be aware that, if you file for AOS for your parents, they will not be able to work or travel internationally for an estimated 6-8 months, unless you want to throw away the time, money and effort you will put into the AOS application.

Be 100% clear about this with them. If an emergency happens in Pakistan before they get their advanced parole, and if they leave the US, they won't be able to easily return.

Also be prepared for the cost of their US health insurance, if you haven't researched that already.

Just to be clear, preconceived intent to AOS is illegal.

At POE, must be honest with the CBP officer and the officer will deny them entry as inadmissible for being intending immigrants without a visa that permits immigrant intent; see INA 212(a)(7)(A)(i)(I).

Well, there is emergency AP for such situations.

Thanks, I missed that. How fast can one get emergency AP, though? And depending on the nature of the potential emergency, I wonder if it be processed on time.

Anyway OP @Ammara you seem to have decided with your parents that it's best for them to return to Pakistan as planned. Good luck and hope they get an interview soon in Pakistan.

I don’t know about now, I believe a couple of days used to be the norm. Anyway not important now as parents are going back.
