Hi!

I am US citizen and I applied for my parents immigration. I applied in Sep 2019, I-130 got approved in april 2020 and in oct 2020 case was completed from nvc and now they are waiting for interview that will be in Islamabad embassy Pakistan.
They are visiting me here in USA as they already had visit visa now i have 2 questions and I would be extremely grateful if someone helps me.
1) when we can expect interview?

2) if I extend their visa, will it impact on their immigration case. I heard that if you apply for visa extension they don't give any decision but says if you have submitted the application, you are good to go. But i m confused that what would be the impact on green card case at time of interview. Plz help I will be so thankful.

Not sure, but embassies seem to be processing cases slower than USCIS is processing I-485s.

Have you considered just filing their I-485s while they are in the USA and before their I-94s expire?

I did not know that I can apply for adjustment of status while they are living here. I will do so. How much time it will take? Any idea? Anyone who can guide a little more that what will be the process. I really appreciate your help.

Go to the AOS forum.  Read and learn.

YMMV

It could well take a year or more with current processing times and maybe 6-8 months until they can get AP to travel out the US - which is why I asked if they need to go back any time soon.

Unfortunately the trump ban was still in place at that stage until March 2021 so along with COVID effects, there is a backlog. Maybe you can find a local users web page to get an idea of what date they are up to at the consulate there, to help you decide whether it’s better for them to stay here and do it or go back.

I will strongly recommend you to have them interviewed in Pakistan.

Perhaps you could indicate the reasons that you strongly recommend this?

Please elaborate.  Why is it recommended to get interviewed in Pakistan?

When did they arrive??? Just make sure to apply for AOS at least 90 days after they arrived, otherwise USCIS may see the intent of the visitor visa for gaining green cards rather than just visiting thus constituting visa fraud.

No such thing for USCIS: https://www.uscis.gov/policy-manual/volume-8-part-j-chapter-3

AOS can be filed at any time after arrival.  Plans change.  Intent is established at POE.  There is no 90 day rule, but it's a common myth.
