NVC expedite

Hello,

I put in an expedite first week of June and just heard back today. They said they are currently reviewing my case and to get in touch if I haven't received an answer in 30 days. From what I gathered its not up to the NVC, it is up to your local embassy, is that correct?

I feel like our chances are good since we've been at the NVC since April with all my husbands (applicant) documents approved since June. We just keep getting delayed at the NVC over silly stuff, signatures, them approving documents then going back and rejecting them for our joint sponsor, etc.

Our local embassy seems to be completely up to date and scheduling interviews 3-4 weeks after getting DQed.

I'd appreciate hearing anyone else experience with an expedite request, how long it took etc.

Thanks a million 🙂

I’m in Canada where the expedite request is basically a sham unless you’re literally dying so I really hope you’re able to get movement at your consulate.

Being at NVC this long is not abnormal at all, and I honestly think that they’re artificially suppressing cases in a lot of places because of the backlog- but it doesn’t sound like your embassy is dealing with that. If you’re getting delayed because of actual issues like signatures missing and issues with sponsors, then I doubt the expedition request will help. It’s usually only helpful once your documentarily qualified and waiting for the interview. Please make sure you have all the documentation they’re asking you for re uploaded to CEAC to make any NVC expedition processing faster!

All the signatures were there but I uploaded our signatures through Adobe. Mine was rejected for being a digital signature, but our joint sponsors who was done the same was was approved. But then they went back later and said my mom needed to be a joint sponsor, not household member since we aren’t living with her yet. Even though 80% of her documents were approved almost 2 months prior 😅 so some mistakes on my part, but on there end as well which has really slowed it down.

My request was due to financial hardship. I’ve been out of work here for over a year but have well paying job offers state side (I uploaded proof to ceac). Obviously my husband and I are trying to not be separated so took a shot with the expedite request

Check the thread below for updates from others who also sent expedite requests to NVC --

Please keep us posted because I requested expedited for the same reason and sent in the offer letter. I know it's not the strongest grounds but had to take a shot!! Sent my exp in June 30th. I am not DQ yet because I had to do the opposite of you. Had to make my sponsor a household member. I'm not technically living with them at the moment but all my proof of domicile stuff is the same address. So once I get back to the US I guess because I'll be living there for a little bit it makes it a household? So that set me back another 6-7 weeks for re submission :(

I just got an email and was unfortunately denied 😔 I knew it was a long shot but glad I at least tried. Hopefully you will have better luck!

Hoping the NVC picks up the pace and we'll all be back with our loved ones soon! Really just hoping to get home by Thanksgiving 🤞

Wait NOOOOOO I am so sorry I totally overlooked the part where they said you got denied! WHY?! Did they give you a reason? I feel like I am also screwed because my employer gave me until August 30th. I submitted June 30th and its not even under review yet. I contacted them and they said they would extend it until October 31st but that would be final. Im not sure how to even go about contacting NVC about my extension. Like if they dont review it before the original Aug 30th deadline will they just deny me? Sounds like I will be getting denied anyways lol but still im not sure what to even do? If I upload to CEAC it messes with my re submission date. Any advice? UGH IM SO SORRY for you. This is ridiculous!!!

No, I just got a generic response that thanked me for my patience but said they won't expedite me and just keep waiting lol. I feel like they will review your request before August 30th. The expedite is totally up to your local embassy apparently. The NVC is just the messenger in this situation. So you do have a chance.

If not, at least it looks like the NVC is picking back up. Before this glitch they were reviewing re-submitted documents in 3 weeks so HOPEFULLY it goes back to that again. Depending on your local embassy, I think it's possible for you to get home before the end of October. If all your documents get approved this time you'll be DQed in August which will give you a couple months to get an interview. I know in Ireland people where getting their interviews scheduled 3-4 weeks after getting DQed this last month!

I am usually very good for finding loop holes or solutions, but there really just don't seem to be any in this situation unfortunately. I'm a couple weeks away from sending cookies to our local embassy with my husbands case number attached to it. A small bribe is harmless, right?😂😂

There really should be an official support group for all of us😏😂

Omg there should be a support group 🤣🤣 Send them a whole damn brunch with extra champagne at this point lol.... unfortunately my embassy (Jordan) is beyond backlogged. Currently scheduling interviews from October 2020!! It's unreal. I'm almost positive my exp will get denied. It even says on their website "if you have a medical emergency contact NVC" so they probably won't take my little job offer haha but I guess we'll see. I'm happy that your embassy seems to be up to date and it definitely sounds like you'll have a chance to be home before Thanksgiving!! My loophole was going to be do a B2 and have my husband stay for 6 months and leave and I'll start working and then we would only be separated for like 3-4 months. We applied/paid for the B2 and they aren't even issuing them right now lmao!!! So there that haha Good luck with the rest of your journey I hope luck is on your side and you get that interview date soon!!

Most unlikely to get a B in this situation but no harm trying.

Could he come over on an ESTA? You’ll have to give loads of proof he plans on returning to Jordan, but maybe you could go back for your job in October, he could stay 3 months, and hopefully at that point they’ll schedule his interview
