Hi all,

I've read through all the guides and tips but am still unsure as to whether the co-sponsor needs to fill out both the I134 and the I864, or just the latter? When I look at the actual downloads it seems to be that the 864 is necessary but not the 134 but the tips on this website say either can be submitted.

Also, I'm wondering if there are any graduate students out there who could give me some advice about the type of letter I should get from my employer/department about my standing there as a TA.

Lastly, what sort of amount is considered to be enough for that line on the I134F form about how much you're willing to contribute to your fiance to support his stay? Is there some sort of good formula to work that out?

Thanks

The I-134s from you and the co-sponsor is provided to your fiance. It will be handed over at interview if asked. The I-864 is sent in when you adjust status.

I would simply indicate you intend to support the applicant as your spouse. That is sufficient for your I-134. The co-sponsor also need not be specific. The can say, I will provide supplimental support as needed.

So the I-864 is not sent to my fiance for his interview? It's used when he's already here and we get married?

That is correct.
