My spouse's name has an hyphen (-) in it. When filling out the DS-260 form in the CEAC website, the website is not accepting my Spouse's surname because of the hyphen. Her surname in her passport also contains the hyphen. What to do in this situation?

Thanks in advance

America thing. You'll have to do without it.

My name has an apostrophe. I had to take it out.

Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.

I hope taking out the hyphen wont create problems in the future.

Thanks for your reply

It won't. My foreign PP has an apostrophe. My US documents ID, DL etc don't. You cannot put it on get database. I read a story about this a week ago. So just do without it.

I believe it's a NVC thing.  I am having the same problem right now DS-260 and my wife cannot have the hyphen on her DS-260 application.  However, my son who got citizenship by CRBA (as I am a US citizen) was able to retain the hyphen.  Has anyone been able to get the hyphen back at some point in time?
