Estimated Time Until Case Decision - how valid is it?

Hello,

I have been tracking my N-400 case - in the post interview phase (interview done on 06th January, 2021).

I've noticed in the last few days that the "estimated time until case decision" in my USCIS online account - is being updated on a daily basis - I remember seeing it was 23 days at one point and it says 4 days as of today.

How reliable is this estimated time? Should I really expect a decision to be taken on my N-400 interview in 4 days? (The interview itself appeared to be a success as I was given the N-652 form which said my N-400 application is being recommended for approval).

I kindly invite your responses.

Thank You.

Don't expect it in 4 days!  Those dates are exactly what it says.. estimates.. not sure who or how they actually come up with the estimates!!  There are so many factors which affect processing time .. all of them out of your control or influence. But, for sure, you ARE one day closer to the next step than you were yesterday !!

Check your case status online .. if you have been scheduled for an interview it will say so.
https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/mycasestatus.do

Your online myuscis accpunt will enable you to see the case processing history as well as all notices they have sent you.

thanks for the reply. i check it and it says "fingerprint taken"

also there is no interview notice in documents/history tab.

but i was confused why it says "6 days" and i just want to make sure where to trust.

As i said above .. it is an estimate only .. it is likely to go up down many times over the processing .. you can trust that it is an “estimate” …. you are waiting on the service centre to evaluate your application .. it will take the amount of time it takes .. nothing more for you to do about it right now.

In my experience....the timeline is not valid at all. My N400 interview was scheduled with "12 months still remaining" on the USCIS clock. My I90 was due sometime first week of Dec 2021. It still shows Pending Decision. I am already a US Citizen. :)
