I recently submitted the I-129F and now I'm preparing for the next steps. According to the K-1 visa guide on this website, I should fill out the I-134 and mail it to my beneficiary so that she can bring it to the visa interview at the consulate.

4.

I-134 Affidavit of Support form. Ensure it is signed, with all required supporting evidence. Begin collecting the required information ahead of time, as it can often take several weeks to collect it all.

In regards to this, I have two questions:

  1. Is this step necessary? According to the USCIS website, there is no mention of having to submit an I-134 for the fiance visa process. See the section named "Process for bringing your Fiance(e) to the United States here.
  2. If this step is actually necessary, where do I actually send the I-134 to? My financial information is my own privacy and I'd rather not disclose that information to my fiance (though I'm sure it wouldn't change anything). In the official webpage for the I-134 in the section named "Where to File", it says to refer to the I-134 instructions, however the I-134 instructions says to refer to the official webpage (circular logic) or call USCIS (couldn't find the answer through this route). I've also read some posts which say to mail it to the NVC which conflicts with the instructions on VisaJourney.

1.  What consulate?  As you are not dealing with the USCIS on this but the Department of State.

2.  What consulate?  Almost 100% of K1's are hand carried by the applicant to the interview.   You need to only disclose enough information to qualify,  for most that is evidence of current income.

YMMV

Wow, didn't know this web page existed. It's a gold-mine of information. Thank you!

So it looks like the I-134 should be mailed to my fiancee. Would it be possible to reduce shipping costs by including everything the fiancee needs for the visa interview along with the I-129F packet that is sent to USCIS as this packet eventually goes to NVC and ultimately to the fiancee's foreign consulate?

If you've just filed, you're looking at > one year before the consulate phase, so no need to fill out any forms for a long while.

You won't need to ship anything.  You can email scanned documents which your fiance can then print out.

Do not send the I-134 to USCIS.
