I looked through old posts to see where other people's alien #s have turned up, but haven't found my husband's in any of the same places. I checked the NOA2 and nothing...is it possible that he hasn't been issued one yet?

Also, on the I485, where it asks immigration status...is it K1 visa holder or nonimmigrant?

And on the EAD application...it asks for your eligibility and that you put only ONE on the application...but for K1s, it has a code for both K1 visa recipients and another for those adjusting their status based on marriage. So, huh?

1) His A# might be on his visa (isn't always, but it is on mine)... or on the NOA1 or NOA2 from the I-129F. Not sure if there's anywhere else you'd find it. Possibly on the letter from the NVC? (Not got mine to hand, so can't check!)

2) K-1 visa holder will do just fine. ;)

3) If you're sending the EAD application with the AOS application, use (c ) (9). The other one is for K-1 visa holders to get an EAD for their first 90 days in the US (the validity period of their I-94) before applying for AOS, and there's no point doing that as it would have expired by the time USCIS even got round to issuing it. :)

About the A# again... just found our NOA2 from the I-129F, the A# is in the box at the top where it says 'beneficiary' - it has my name, and the A# above it. Does yours not have that?

And forget what I said about it maybe being on the NVC letter - just found ours and it's not on there.

Thanks, featherb...especially for that last explantion. Now I understand!

So I take it it's no huge deal if he has no alien # at this point?

Ooops, we crossed posts there! Anyway... seems like people sometimes file for AOS and then their NOAs arrive with an entirely different A# on there from the one they originally had (there's a few posts about this if you hunt back far enough!), and they use that one. So I think if he definitely doesn't have one that you can find anywhere, so long as all the other details (nonimmigrant visa number, I-94 number, etc), they'll just issue him with one when they receive the package. I am in no way an expert on such things, this is just what I've seen other people being told (when worrying about having more than one A#) by people far cleverer than me! :)
