Timeline

How are you living in the US?  You are not a legal resident until you have entered the US with a valid CR-1 visa.  Your health care choices will probably be very limited until then.  You might be able to get coverage through your spouse's employer plan.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Apply for Social Security Card: 12/30/14 Connecticut

Marriage: 1/26/15

My wife got medical insurance and she didn't have a greencard or a driver's license.

your spouse  should go to his/her employer with proof of your marriage (marriage certificate) and they should be able to put his/her on your plan coverage, at least that is what Ive been told when i asked how I get my wife on my coverage.

As long as the window for adding after a life event is still open, otherwise they will need to wait for open enrollment.

you are right!!! I forgot that little detail... hehehe.  I am wondering as my wife still lives in Guatemala (we are waiting for the visa) if her visa approval and consequent move in would be a qualifying event. otherwise i dont know what im going to do.. hehehe

It only takes a quick look at the qualifying life events to make that determination.   I think you will be pleasantly surprised

USAA doesn't allow to add without SSN.

You don't tell them its a placeholder.   They will figure it out in December or January when they verify ssn's for tax reports
